Nov 2007 – Present Infection Control Director for Appalachian Regional Healthcare System,
Boone, NC. Provide infection control services for a 117-bed acute care facility. Coordinate Infection Control and Prevention for 2 critical access hospitals, a long-term care fancily, psychiatric inpatient unit, home health agency, several physician offices, and a wellness center. Oversee programs and ensure policies current.
Jul 2007 – Present U.S. Air Force Reserves, Nurse Corps., 459th Aeromedical Medical
Squadron, Andrews AFB, Maryland. Participate as a nurse officer in the USAFR. Provide oversight and guidance to enlisted members during wing member annual physicals. Assist with immunization clinic.
9/08-2/09 Clinical Nurse deployed to CASF at Ramstein, Germany. Processed
military personnel from all European and Middle East theaters to include
Afghanistan and Iraq. Provided care and prepared patients for flight to US.

5/06-9/06 Clinical Nurse deployed to 332nd CASF in Balad, Iraq. Processed military
personnel leaving the country for further medical treatment. Functioned as Flight Clinical Coordinator as well as CASF nurse preparing patient movement and monitoring health/psychological needs. Moved more than 2400 patients.
Aug 2005 – Nov 07 Registered Nurse RHA Howell Children’s Center, Greenville, North
Carolina. Provide medications, assessments, treatments to medically fragile children from 5 months to 12 years of age. Provide tracheal suctioning and G-tube medications and fluids. Includes IV medications as necessary.
May 2004 – Nov 07 Infection Control Practitioner, Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville,
North Carolina. Monitor surveillance along with 6 other practitioners in a 730+ bed facility. Provide education to staff, volunteers, physician, and interns. Work in conjunction with the Infection Control Medical Director. Complete surveillance as identified in the Annual Plan/Goals. Infection Control contact for University Health Systems to include SurgiCenter, Home Health & Hospice, 6 Community Hospitals, and a Trauma Center. Coordinated consistency among facilities and facilitated database support for the Infection Control Practitioners. Review and revise policies.
Jul 1992 – Apr 2004 Registered Nurse, Geiger Corrections, Spokane, Washington. Examine
inmates to determine their need for medical care for 500+ inmates, complete initial history and physical on new Federal inmates. Under the direction of the physician prepares, carries out, evaluates and revises treatment plans for inmates based on personal observation. Care for and counsels ill, injured, or infirm inmates. Provides education and screening activities. Provide HIV counseling as needed.
Apr 1986 – Sep 2004 U.S. Air Force Reserves, Nurse Corps., 604th Medical Squadron, Fairchild
AFB, Washington. Participate as a nurse officer in the USAFR. Officer in Charge of Education and Training, Infection Control Manager, and BLS Coordinator.
2/03 – 8/03 Deployed to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany in support of
Enduring Freedom. Worked on a 42-bed multi-service medical-surgical unit. Provided care to injured soldiers, airman, marines, and seamen, as well as civilians, active duty and dependents. Patients came from all of the European countries, Africa, and Southwest Asia. Appointed the Performance Improvement monitor for the unit while deployed. Charge Nurse on night shift supervising 4-6 Registered Nurses and LPN’s and 3-5 Medical Technicians. Coordinated Air Force manpower assuring valuable link for more than 300 combat casualties.
1/91 – 4/91 Deployed in support of Desert Storm to Nocton Hall, UK. Duties included
assisting in setting up a 750-bed hospital and training technicians. Cared for 16 Desert Storm casualties. Provided patient assessment, medications, and prepared for Aeromedical Evacuation back to the U. S.
May 1979 – Feb 2004 Registered Nurse, Lakeland Village, Medical Lake, Washington.
Residential Habilitation Center for Developmentally Disabled. Committees include: Infection Control Chairperson, Safety Committee, Nursing Policy and Procedure Committee, Fun Run and Health & Safety Fair Committees. Position held as follows
1994-2/04 Infection Control/Employee Health. Responsible for surveillance activities
in a 300-bed facility. Provide training to all staff on all shifts related to infection control, bloodborne pathogens, and tuberculosis.
1992-1994 Infirmary Supervisor. Responsible for the 24-hour functioning of a 12-
bed infirmary. Supervised 16 licensed and non-licensed staff. Scheduled staff to maintain adequate coverage. Developed policies and procedures, trained staff to provide conscious sedation. Assisted with campus-wide policies.
1991-1992 Infection Control, Nursing Staff Development, Nursing Quality Assurance
Developed Infection Control Program. Provided and arranged for Nursing staff development offerings. Taught New Employee Training to include CPR, Signs & symptoms of Illness, Emergency First Aid, Health & Hygiene, and Seizures.
