OBJECTIVE
Molecular biology intern at Ion Torrent, Life technology looking for part – time position in molecular
biology related position.
SKILLS SUMMARY
• Strong analytical and technical skills, detail oriented and well organized
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Cell Culture and molecular biology techniques, Next generation sequencing, Emulsion PCR, SDS-PAGE, Western-blotting,sterile microbiology techniques, PCR, cellular assays, ELISA, Chromatography, maintenance of adherent and non-adherent cell lines, Transfection in mammalian cell lines and transformation, passaging and staining of cells, flow cytometry.
ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE
• Cloning and expression of Paramecium Bursaria Chlorella Virus 1 (PBCV-1) gene.
Cloning Transformation of competent E.coli cells with a gene of interest from a virus genome using expression vector pMAL-c5E and then over express the protein encoded by the gene. The study focused on techniques like Southern blotting, Restriction mapping, Western Blotting, DNA sequencing reaction and analysis of different gels and Polymerization Chain Reaction (PCR).
• Effect of all trans-retinoic acid (ATRA) on Acute Myelocytic Leukemia (AML) cell line
This project was designed to determine the effect of different exposure time and concentration of all trans-retinoic acid on AML cell line. The treatment showed differentiation of the AML cells to mature blood cells.
• Isolation, Purification & determination of protein content and enzyme activity of wheat germ acid phosphatase.
Isolation and purification of the enzyme ‘wheat germ acid phosphatase’ from wheat germ lysate and then studying the kinetics of the enzyme using inhibitors. The protein content is measured in the course of purification process using Bradford Assay.
• Isolation of immunoglobulins from mouse.
During this study, techniques like isolation of cells from mouse spleen, ELISA to screen for immunoglobulin using different antigen, dialysis, salting out, screening of hybridomas using microELISA, Cytotoxicity Technique with Antibody and Complement, column chromatography, Bradford Assay, hemagglutination reaction, cardiac puncture and spectroscopy were practiced.
