Project Description:

Andes Transformation Process – British Telecom Global Services:

• Andes is a process led systems transformation programme for BT Global Services.

• This is a largest and highly complex transformation programme focussed on customer experience improvement through implementation of CE users stories, process and system rationalization.

• The key goals of this programme are process led system transformation, rationalising L2C, T2R and C2M and reducing systems.

• Customer experience driven transformation, implementing CE user stories and improving RFT.

• Improving user adoption to 90%+.

Responsibilites:

• Identify test scenarios based on functional design documents, setup testing environment and testing the application.

• Performed and executed functional testing to identify errors in each modified build in the process of testing.

• Investigate bugs and interacte with developers to resolve technical issues.

• Identify, analyse and documents all defects with severity by comparing actual test results with expected results.

• Participating in Scrum, walk-through, CFT, triage and delivery calls.

• Working as a SDH Transmission Engineer in the optical domain involves checking Traffic feasibility, Network Planning, Implementation of Network to the customer in the Network Management System (NMS).

• Bandwidth delivery providing links of E1, E3, DS3, STM 1, STM 4, STM 16 level to the customer.

• APS ( Auto Protection Switching )Testing :

Involves APS testing of E1, E3, DS3 and STM1 and above provisioned circuits in NMS and providing end to end error free circuits to the customer.

• On – Line Testing:

Circuits to be tested online with the customer by providing soft loop & break and the customer will check up the circuits with testing equipment.

• Delivering Ethernet over SDH :

Provisioning and Troubleshooting Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet on both Layer 1 and Layer 2, point to point, point to multipoint and multi-v LAN fashion

• Configuration of Metro Ethernet Circuits: EosWAN and LAN ports as tagged and untagged fashions.

• Performance Testing:

Tracking end to end performance report upon customer requirement.

• Inventory Management System:

Involves updation of entire customer and network details in the database Metasolv.

• Trouble Ticket Management System

Troubleshooting customer links and closing TTs using HP OpenView and Oracle E-CRM.

• Testing Equipment profiency:

Handling various testing meters like BERT, Actrena SDH analyzer and Ethernet testers like Sunset, JDSU & EXFO.

Network Management System (NMS) Exposure:

• NORTEL preside:

Provisioning and Testing using the NMS (Network Management System) called PRESIDE provided by NORTEL. PRESIDE is a tool was written using UNIX. This UNIX Application is brought to GUI format using software called Exceed. The testing of Nortel equipment includes TN-1X, TN-1C, TN-4X, TN-16X.

• ECI Telecom Products:

ECI equipment includes XDM 100, XDM 1000, BG-20 and BG-40 .The testing of Circuits on the ECI XDM equipments which are used for the Backbone connectivity, which is a multiservice, high-density optical network Platform. The elements are managed using EMS XDM (Element Management System). EMS XDM is an open System with an open COBRA Standard. The EMS XDM is integrated under another management application (eNM Light Soft).

• Alcatel and Tellabs (DXC):

Digital Cross Connect Systems was used to Provisioning & Testing E1 and STM level connections between points of connectivity. The DXC switch node is a high-capacity cross-connect–a multi-service provisioning platform. Its main strength is in regional and metropolitan networks, where operators can use its cross-Connect functionality for grooming and consolidation of traffic from various sources.

• Database Exposure :

Metasolv 6.1 version is an Vendor Independent Application tool which is used to maintain the database of Alcatel, Nortel, ECI and Tellabs Equipments and also it contains the details of the entire customer links used by them from various locations and also equipment inventory details. It has a schematic view as well as end-to-end details of the various links.
