SUMMARY OF SKILLS………………………………………………………………….……………………
Design
• Analyze carefully engineering problems and come up with excellent practical design solutions
• Select material and manufacturing process relative to design
• Design parts and perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using ANSYS and SolidWorks
Hands-on
• Study and understand quickly how things work
• Build exceptional prototypes using available resources (i.e. material scrap) to actualize design idea
• Machine using conventional lathe, 2-axis mill, 3D Printer (Z-Corp, Stratasys), solder, and weld
Team Work
• Contribute actively and listen carefully in group settings
• Come up with diplomatic solutions to solve conflicts
Computing: ANSYS, Matlab, Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, I-Edit
WORK HISTORY……………………...………………………………………………………….……………
Research Volunteer (Oct 2011 – Current)
University of California Berkeley-PCB Mask Design and Fuel Cell Development
• Design silicon mask layout to be manufactured for laboratory use
• Define suitable material for better performance of hydrogen and microbial fuel cell
Academic Tutor in Math and Engineering (Jun 08 – Feb 09)
Green River Community College - TRIO Outreach Program
• Served one-on-one academic support to first-generation, disabled, and economically disadvantaged students
• Supported students learning, guided them for better understanding concepts through various approaches
Auto Mechanic (Aug 06 – May 07)
Alma Bryant High School - Bryant Center Auto Shop
• Diagnosed and replaced broken components in cars (i.e. tire, disc break, transmission, engine)
EDUCATION……………………………………………………………………………………………………
• University of Washington (UW) - June 2011 Seattle, WA
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Technical GPA: 3.22 / 4.0
• Green River Community College (GRCC) - June 2009 Auburn, WA
Associate of Science, Cumulative Technical GPA: 3.6 / 4.0
PROJECTS……………………...………………………………………………………….……………………
Balsa Car Frame Structure Project - UW (Spring 2011)
• Designed a car frame structure to minimize structural weight to applied load ratio
• Constructed 3D models and perform FEA of the frame under various loading conditions (i.e. collisions, turning)
• Built prototype of the frame using given wood pieces and adhesives
• Proved reliability of design by doing destructive testing to the frame and obtaining its failure limit
Engine Cooling System Project - UW – FSAE (Fall 2009-Spring 2011)
• Performed detailed calculations to determine specifications for required car radiator and consult with vendors
• Built 3D models of radiator brackets and perform FEA during breaking, turning, and bumping conditions
Moriya Stirling Fan Project - UW (Winter 2010)
• Conducted an intensive study of Stirling cycle and how it is related to combustion in car engine
• Planned manufacturing process of a piston and manufactured it using a conventional lathe
Intercollegiate Pinewood Derby - GRCC (Winter 2009)
• Designed car contour to maximize speed under specific weight requirement and limited parts
• Carved car into shapes by using band saw, screw driver, and sand paper
