12/08 to 9/09 General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems Orlando FL
Sr. Mechanical Designer Top Secret Security Clearance Solid Works 2009
Develop electro mechanical designs and packaging of top secret projects. For use on ordinance and tactical systems as well as successfully keeping cost down and ease of manufacturing at a priority. Achievements included I. E. D. defeat systems and RF monitoring equipment for Ordinance sled testing. This equipment was designed to fit into a rugged portable transit case with an included 19 electronic equipment rack. Which I sourced out according to the customers specifications. Also layout of PC card assemblies for form and fit into mechanical designs. To minimize assembly time improve reliability and function. All designs had to be extremely rugged to withstand violent event field testing and deployment to enable equipment to survive and transmit data back for analyzing result of ordinance effects and related equipment. Equipment also needed to conform to 2 man lift requirements as stated in military safety standards. Utilize Solid Works Enterprise PDM system for data management of design work.
11/07 to 12/08 ATT GSI Orlando FL
Mechanical Engineer Secret Security Clearance Solid Works 2008
Lead mechanical design engineer on the OneTess program. Responsibilities included development of cost efficient rugged mechanical designs for use on Army vehicles wheeled as well as tracked. ATT GSI was the prime contractor on this project. Part of my role was to review all designs from sub contractors such as SAIC SAAB SRI SRC BAE and others to check and approve their designs before integration into the overall system. Universal design was used wherever possible. To keep manufacturing cost down and installation time at a minimum.
ATT GSI contd.
Design achievements included mounting radio and power equipment on various vehicles. Including Humvee M88 Hercules M577 Command track M113 Carrier M992 FASV Hemtt Bradley Paladin and Abrams. All designs also had to conform to military safety requirements for 1 man lift. The overall design is setup for transmitting and receiving GPS coordinates signals and event results during combat simulation. For transmission of data on electronic bullets mortars and other arms fire back to the base station. To be used for training analysis. All designs needed to be extremely rugged and durable to withstand the constant shock and vibration created by these vehicles. It was necessary to travel to several military posts to perform Form and Fit exercises to insure proper installation and routing of cabling. All designs were required to be installed on vehicles in a 30 minute time frame or less utilizing only existing features on vehicles modifications were not permitted. Also created and implemented drawing configuration system to be utilized by ATT GSI for the program. This included standardized notes drawing formats procedures and a complete checking process. Utilize Solid Works Enterprise PDM system for data management of design work.
