Miami University (Proctor & Gamble Grant) – Ohio, Oxford, OH

- Developed a novel Tear-Peel tester and test method to objectively determine the failure resistance of paper towel and tissue (single ply, double ply, wet, dry).

- Researched the failure progression of towel to understand which design and manufacturing aspects to consider when determining how to optimize durability with other paper properties (i.e absorption, softness).

- Researched the applicability of reusing De-inked pulp sludge in other avenues instead of landfills. Re-use avenues such as particle board, composting, and animal bedding were investigated.

- Cost anaylsis, chemical tests and mechanical tests were conducted to objectively compare the economic and environment comparison of each re-use avenue.

-Coordinated RFP send out, interfaced issues with suppliers, and handled receipt of supplier proposals on an aggressive 6 month bid deadline to NAVSEA for a 72 ship 10-year multi-year contract.
