WORK EXPERIENCE

Research Assistant, Wayne State University, Detroit (Oct’08- Current)

• Designed techniques, developed protocols and performed procedures to determine safety of minimally invasive surgical devices (Class II devices) around peripheral nerves. Project was funded by Ethicon Endo-Surgery Inc, A Johnson & Johnson Company.

• Effectively performed neurophysiologic analysis of nerve function parameters using data acquisition software EGAA.

• Performed extensive statistical analysis using software SPSS (version 11).

• Researched in detail on the basic working principles and application techniques of the surgical devices by reviewing several articles, journals and papers.

• Developed proposals, manuscripts, technical and presentations.

• Interacted with surgeons, research associates, engineers and trained students.

Assistant Biomedical Engineer, Bombay Hospital, Mumbai, India (Jun’07- Dec’07)

• Installation of devices like haemodialysis machine, defibrillators, ventilators, ECG machines, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, MRI, CT, X-Ray and ultrasound machines.

• Detailed exposure to working and troubleshooting of endoscopy machine, artificial kidney machine, blood gas analyzer and neonatal intensive care equipments.

• Preventive and corrective maintenance of several devices in the hospital.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

Komparativ Electrocardiogram Waveform Logarithm (Jan’09-May’09)

• Developed MATLAB based program to display the possible variations in electrocardiogram (ECG) and their subsequent effects on the body condition.

Effect on the Human Muscle Activity due to variations in Loading Force and Lifting Height in Industrial Applications ( Jan’09-May’09)

• Determined the force exerted on the fore arm while lifting loads with varying weights and from heights by analysis of EMG signals using BIOPAC

Electroencephalogram Analysis for different memory tasks (Jan’09-May’09)

• Determined effects of physical stress on tasks involving short-term memory using BIOPAC with detailed analysis of EEG components

Chronic Renal Failure Detection Kit- A Urinometer (Jan’08-May’08)

• Designed a kit to detect protein level in urine by analyzing parameters: body temperature, pulse rate and glucose concentration to determine the stage of chronic renal failure.

• Funded by All India Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Centre (AIIPMR), Mumbai, India.
