Job duties included cutting and beveling pipe with a beveling machine or hand grinder. Also, fitting pipe (small and large diameter),flanges and valves to be welded.

Welder/ Fitter (Oct-2009 - Mar-2010)

T&R Pipeline Construction, Houston, TX

Job duties included some transitioning of heavy wall pipe up to 30 inch. Also, setting up beveling machine to cut and bevel pipe to length or beveling using a hand grinder. Fitting up of pipe joints and flanges to be welded

Skills

-Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits

-Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits.

-Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.

-Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc,shielded metal arc and plasma cutter .

-Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.

-Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.

-Lay out, position, align, and secure parts prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, and rulers or tape measure.
