Overview
Over 40 years of multidisciplinary, domestic and international experience in the following industries: oilfield exploration and production, commercial diving, marine and civil construction, underground utilities, and telecommunications.
I have extensive knowledge and experience in the principles of organization, operations management, and administration; have been responsible for directing large work forces, overseeing the daily operations of sales, technical service and support departments, as well as overseeing the development of technical publications and management training programs.
Additionally, I have experience in establishing new business offices and making them profitable through team efforts and the negotiation of contracts in the public and private sector, requiring excellent communications skills, self-motivation, and a clear focus on desired results.
Experiences
October 2007 – MWH Constructors – Superintendent/Inspector
Contracted with the City of Cape Coral, the third largest land area in Florida, to install a comprehensive potable water, irrigation and gravity sewer infrastructure, including road building (2 lane and 4 lane), directional drilling, lift stations and pump stations within a defined residential community. Responsible for two major contracts totaling 38 miles of piping, 11 miles of new roads valued at $16 Million which was completed in an 18 month period.

Contracted to the City of Fort Myers, Fl. until July and then the City of Naples, Fl. until September 2007.

In charge of installing all underground utilities on the LaBelle RO Water Plant Project. Assisted General Superintendent with plant construction and installation of equipment.

Installed all underground utilities on a 140 residential home development project which included lakes.

Responsible for both a marine and land project in Fort Myers, Fl. In charge of installing 5 miles of 24” DIP for reclaim water in Manatee, FL.

Represented company business in Alaska and Eastern Russia.
1997
Returned to Anchorage, Alaska, and entered the telecommunications industry selling small to very large business telephone systems. This experience enhanced my knowledge of communication technologies.
1995
Activated my own company, Subsea Exploration, Inc. I then obtained permission and permits from the Bahamian Government and spent the next two years surveying offshore areas in the Bahamas for indications of old sunken ships from the Spanish era.
1990 – Drilex Systems – Operations Manager
Based in Anchorage, Alaska, I was responsible for the development of drilling small diameter holes directionally and horizontally in existing production wells to increase oil recovery as well as large motor directional drilling for new oil wells. These are the same motors that were used by drilling companies in the underground utilities industry.

1986 – Alaska Petroleum Contractors – Wellhead Technician
Responsible for servicing, repairing and testing the wellheads, pipelines/flow lines and production equipment in the Prudhoe Bay oil fields.
1985 – FMC Corporation – Subsea Wellhead Salesman
Sold capital equipment in New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Japan and India.
1984 – Joined Koomey, Inc – General Manager
Koomey, Inc. is a subsea hydraulics controls manufacturer. Six months after joining the company as a General Manager, the oil industry collapsed and I was subsequently laid off.
1982 – ODECO, Inc. – Domestic Subsea Superintendent
With this major offshore drilling company based in New Orleans, Louisiana, I was responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair and inventory of over $140 million of capital equipment on twenty-six offshore rigs. I also managed the fourteen subsea engineers working these twenty-six drill rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. This position required a 24/7 commitment.
1977 – Vetco Offshore – Manager
Transferred to California and then to Lafayette, Louisiana. I was a senior serviceman at that time and in 1978, was promoted to Area Manager responsible for the profit and loss of the service and repair facility. At that time, the company’s equipment was on 70% of the rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. In 1979, I was transferred back to Ventura, California as a Sales Coordinating Manager directing a workforce of approximately twenty clerical staff. They were responsible for processing contractual agreements, both domestic and international, from sales orders to purchase orders and then to manufacturing orders and then to shipping documentation. This required continuous interface with the customer, sales, engineering, manufacturing and shipping. I left Vetco Offshore in 1981 to pursue personal interests.
1974 – Vetco Offshore – Wellhead and Hydraulics Technician
I worked in an area that covered the North Sea, Europe and North Africa. After completing the training on their proprietary capital equipment, I was sent to Aberdeen, Scotland, as part of the international service team that installed this equipment. This equipment allowed for the safe drilling and production of oil and gas from wells up to 30,000-ft. deep in up to 1,000-ft. of water in all weather conditions. This also included working on French, Italian, Dutch, German, and Norwegian owned drill rigs, both offshore and in shipyards, through out many countries in Europe and the Mediterranean.
1969
I worked as a professional/commercial diver and Diving Supervisor/Manager on various construction and oilfield projects in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Taiwan. The scope of work included a role in the construction of a very complex hydro-electric generating station which involved tunneling; A coal conveyor wharf extending one and a quarter mile out to sea with a berthing dock for three ships. This project also included the construction of the mine and the laying of railroad tracks. Offshore work required extensive use of underwater drill rigs, explosives and underwater cutting and welding. I also worked on offshore drill ships/rigs, the work was always on an emergency basis to repair, replace or recover capital equipment in use on the seabed in depths down to 750-ft. I was the Taiwan Area Manager and Diving Superintendent for Ocean Systems in 1974 when I left the oilfield diving industry.
Royal New Zealand Navy
From 1961 to 1969, served both as a Seaman and as a Diver, receiving distinctive honor by being the youngest sailor to attain the rank of Petty Officer, the youngest sailor to obtain the Diver First Class rating and one of seven sailors selected from the entire navy to serve on the Queen’s Royal Yacht, the “Britannia”.
In one sentence, I have the ability to adapt readily to highly diversified and complex fields of discipline within any industry as evidenced by my historical responsibilities and achievements.
