Job Title: Database Administrator
• Served as the systems, database, and application administrator for the McKesson Horizon Home Care and Hospice production, training, and testing environments. This system is comprised of 9 Windows 2003/2008 servers, 2 Xenapp5 terminal server farms, plus SQL 2008 databases.
Responsibilities included:
• Installation of all vendor-supplied updates for the Horizon application
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of all servers
• Ensured all daily, weekly, and monthly backup jobs completed as scheduled and that those tapes are provided to Iron Mountain for offsite storage on a daily basis
Significant accomplishments during my tenure at HomeCall/LHC, Inc. included:
• Migration of the Horizon production/training environment from the Frederick, MD server hosting site in Frederick, MD to the parent company’s datacenter in Lafayette, LA to virtual machines
• The supervision of the physical migration of all servers to a hosting site due to the sale of HomeCall, Inc. by United Health (UHC) to LHC in 2009
• Oversight of the installation of Windows 2003 Server and Citrix Metafame/XPA and Presentation Server 4.0 by a third party consultant
• The re-installation of the Horizon application and the migration of all production, training, and testing data to the Windows 2003 upgraded servers
• Managed the installation of new servers for the installation of the CPR+ application for HomeCall Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (the pharmacy) and was the backup systems and database administrator for the pharmacy until the sale of HomeCall, Inc. to LHC
• Established and maintained a separate instance of the Horizon application for a nationwide hospice business for two years until that application was migrated to UHC servers
• Prior to becoming the systems, database, and application administrator, served as the senior programmer/analyst for HomeCall, Inc. In that capacity, I developed and maintained RPG II applications for all administrative areas of the business in an IBM RISC/6000 and System/36 environment.
