Nortel Networks, Avaya, Hewlett Packard Enterprise September 1998 – March 2017 (18 years 7 months)
Description:
• Sales and Engineering expert for all Nortel and Avaya Products: Voice, Data, Security, Contact Center, Transport, and Services. Duties included sales and technical presentations, designs, hands-on configurations, customer education, and people management.
• Primary force behind successful “solution bake off” against Cisco, Microsoft, Google, and Polycom to win a $160M deal.
• Resident engineer, lead architect and program manager for an international Hybrid Cloud managed services solution that provided Unified Communications, Contact Center/CRM/WFO, and Cybersecurity services for 90,000 users and 6,000 agents world-wide. The customer was Johnson Controls. I maintained the “vision” for a global team of managed service engineers.
• Single point of contact for all sales / engineering in the Pacific Rim for Nortel, including enterprise, federal, and carrier customers. My efforts lead to 9 people being hired in Hawaii and re-opening the Nortel office in Honolulu after being closed for 2 yrs.
• Principal for multi-year product development team of multiple mobile voice apps and “robo-configuration” service for Avaya at the bequest of Johnson Controls. International development team using Agile methodologies, I was “onsite” customer-facing engineer.
• Single Nortel Sales Engineer for all Federal Business in Rocky Mountains states where I made dozens of technical presentations primarily for Department of Defense customers and resellers where I closed a large 2-year DWDM sale to the US Air Force. Environment:

Description:
• I was the first Data Networking Engineer hired by this Telecom company that wanted to explore the emerging ISP markets. Our efforts were successful and within 3 years TDS hired 100+ network techs to handle the influx on new business.
• I selected all of the technology that went into over 200 LECs in 27 different states and in 1998 because of our efforts, Wired Magazine called Madison, WI the most connected city in the US (a stat that didn’t last long).
• Devised cutting edge techniques for testing quality of local loops and modifying circuits for specific data rates.
• Designed, purchased, staffed, and trained all components of a large 7x24x365 NOC.
