Resume:

Ellla Groce, LCDC, LPC, MA

214-***-**** mobile *********@*******.***

Perhaps this is an Opportunity all.

My services are available at this time only because the large clinic (Lakes Regional Community Center in Rockwall, Tx.) I have worked for over 3 years has decided to close the SUD department at my location for financial reasons.

To quote my separation letter, “Please note that a Reduction in Force is taken out of business necessity, and in no way reflects on your individual performance. You are a valued employee, and we very much appreciate your service to our consumers”.

Upon request, I will furnish a copy of this letter and the name and phone number of my supervisor.

Professional Summary

Dedicated to helping people with addiction and their families to find recovery. Exceptionally talented at building rapport with clients to encourage cognitive self-realization, honesty, and growth into a better way of life. Passionate about helping this sizeable segment of our society in learning working strategies and coping skills to obtain and sustain a functional and full-filling life free of active addiction.

WORK HISTORY

-After graduating with a BS, joined the Air Force and served as an officer and global navigator. Honorably discharged. -Owned and operated a residential Real Estate Sales Office in Plano, hiring and training agents. Also owned and operated a home building and remodeling business. -Retired from Real Estate and construction business in 2023. At that time, I decided to dedicate my life to helping people with the disease of addiction. -While earning my MA in counseling at Amber (now Amberton) University, I did my practicum at Timberlawn Psychiatric Hospital. During my practicum, facilitated a mandated group and individual therapy for addiction in an outpatient setting. -July, 2023 to August, 2026- employed by Lakes Regional Community Center in Rockwall and Greenville, TX. It is a non-profit, outpatient mental health clinic.

-At Lakes Regional, I facilitated group therapy nightly for clients mandated by TX who are on probation or parole. Also conducted individual therapy with this clientele. I then opened a SUD division at our Rockwall office (Rockwall works primarily with MH and IDD clients).

PRIMARY DUTIES

My duties were screening, diagnosing, and assessing clients as well as writing treatment plans. Also secured all necessary consents as required by HIPAA. Conducted individual SUD counseling using CBT, motivational interviewing, didactic methods, and other modalities. Many of my clients are COPSD (dual-diagnosis) since they are referred by our MH counselors. Also treated many clients who self-referred from the general population.

TELEHEALTH

I conducted individual remote therapy via HIPPA approved video as well as in person.

EDUCATION

B.S. in Industrial Arts, NTSU (now UNT) M.A. in Counseling, Amber University (now Amberton)

PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY and BRIEF BIO:

By the grace of God, therapy, help from friends and family, and the 12 step program, I am enjoying my 22nd year of continuous recovery. I have attended thousands of 12 step meetings to include AA, NA, and NARANON. I greatly enjoy having the opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, race, or position in society. I believe all can achieve recovery if they SHOW UP

I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and have lived here all my life. Although I do have an extensive work history of self-employment, I work well in a team/corporate environment (such as the USAF and Lakes Regional Community Center).

Group Therapy Skills

I am highly skilled at individual counseling. However, group therapy is my forte. My LPC has expanded my abilities and enhanced my capabilities. Over the years, I have facilitated a group of 20 parolees who (mostly men) where resentful for being required to attend to a group of 5 non-mandated people with less than 30 days of sobriety.

I use a multi-media approach to include music, videos, and handouts that are all recovery orientated. I have vetted and collected many effective videos from You Tube over the years. I have also found that the “Counselor’s Treatment Manual” published by the federal agency SAMHSA to be a great tool. We are talking about a life and death subject, but a little occasional humor seems to help group participation also.

My most effective tool? While maintaining proper therapeutic and professional boundaries, my clients know I genuinely care and can empathize.
