HONORS AND ACTIVITIES
• From 2014 to 2023 was a member of the ATA [American Translators Association], and am a former award-winning senior member of the STC [Society for Technical Communication].
• Assisted the ATA Chinese to English Workgroup create first ever ATA Translation Certification exam for Chinese to English. Became Language Chair of the program in 2017 and stepped down May 2023, after helping group develop new leadership.
• Awarded DCSA [Distinguished Community Service Award] of the Society for Technical Communication, March 2009. Assisted with preparations for STC Chicago's hosting of, and attended, the 2012 STC International Summit near Chicago.
• Attended the 2014 ATA 55th Annual Conference [Chicago].
• Represented Chinese to English Workgroup at ATA59 and delivered a presentation on the first ever ATA Translation Certification exam for Chinese to English.
• As Language Chair, at ATA60 presented a three hour AST day practical training session on the ATA Chinese to English Certification exam.
o Editor-in-Chief, SEEDS at NEIU. 2020 to 2022. Provided leadership to the student team producing a literary and creative journal. Advice regarding production schedule, deadlines, other. o Completed a series of writing courses, UIC Extension, mid-2000s. o Currently MA in English student at NEIU.
o Substantive editing, copy editing, and QA of documents completed for private clients. o Edited a book that was software instruction on Open Office Writer, which was then self- published by the author on lulu.com, 2009.
o Translation and QA of documents completed for a range of private clients. o Assisted local political campaign (jonathanclarkgreen.com) with translation and consulting; for a successful county judge race, January and February 2020. o Writing and publishing projects.
Tutored and coached a new immigrant from China, in Mandarin and in English. Two hours a week, all of 2018. On contract with an NGO. Very good results obtained regarding the development of communicative competence.
In April of 2019, translated the subtitles from Mandarin to English for a Youtube video on the topic of art – ‘The Fan Guy of Xi’an.’
