Pre-Shift Preparation & Planning

•Execute and manage sort performance in the designated inbound area by controlling volume flow, maintaining operational readiness, and ensuring associate safety and engagement across all phases of the shift

•Ensure inbound is properly set up, trailers are brought to the door and TDR'd in, and conveyance is placed to allow smooth volume flow at the beginning of the sort

•Attend pre-shift sync with the Operations Manager; review the Start of Shift Plan from the Prior Day Plan (PDP)

•Verify the Automated Labor Planning System (ALPS) and shift volume; review handoff information for the dock, projected attendance, and Dockmaster to complete a trailer plan based on the shift plan

•Prepare Start of Shift announcement and goals more than 15 minutes before SOS

•Power up and test all conveyance and waste extraction, ensuring emergency cords are working and reset

•Identify the oldest volume in all process paths to ensure First In, First Out (FIFO) rules are followed; own FIFO improvement initiatives for the site including visual management projects for cage management

•Ensure a minimum of 60 minutes of work is available in all receive paths at SOS

•Complete an Area Readiness walk to identify any piles

Staffing & Labor Management

•Assign associates to job functions based on headcount numbers calculated by the Prior Day Plan

•Communicate staffing assignments via a staffing board at the stand-up location at SOS

Sort Operations & Execution

•Control the flow to the sort floor, making quick adjustments to maintain the sort plan and achieve MOST rates

•Ensure trailer moves are being placed; monitor incoming or late loads

•Escalate concerns to the Sort AM or Operations Manager as needed

•Maintain associate safety and engagement throughout the sort
