Dear hiring manager,
I am writing to express my interest in the Occupational Therapist position with your organization. I am a licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of Ohio with current professional experience providing skilled occupational therapy services across assisted living and home health settings. Through my work with Total Care Therapy, along with my previous clinical fieldwork and healthcare experience, I have developed a strong foundation in patient-centered care, clinical reasoning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and functional rehabilitation.
In my current role as an Occupational Therapist with Total Care Therapy, I provide skilled evaluations and treatments addressing clients’ functional, cognitive, physical, and psychosocial needs. I develop and implement evidence-based interventions designed to maximize independence with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, toileting, grooming, feeding, transfers, medication routines, and household tasks. I collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, physical and speech therapists, caregivers, and facility staff to coordinate care and promote continuity of services. I also utilize WellSky, Kantime, and Raintree EMR systems to maintain accurate and timely documentation of skilled occupational therapy services.
Alongside my clinical responsibilities, I serve as Director of Rehabilitation Services with Total Care Therapy, where I contribute to the daily management and coordination of rehabilitation services. In this leadership role, I manage therapy caseloads, staffing needs, scheduling, and departmental operations to support efficient utilization of rehabilitation resources. I work directly with facility leadership to address therapy utilization, staffing, discharge planning, patient needs, and operational priorities. These responsibilities have strengthened my ability to balance clinical priorities with administrative demands while maintaining a focus on quality patient care.
As a rehabilitation leader, I also supervise, mentor, and support rehabilitation staff while promoting clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, productivity, and quality outcomes. This experience has given me a broader understanding of the rehabilitation department as a whole and has strengthened my ability to communicate effectively with therapists, support staff, caregivers, and facility leadership. I have learned the importance of organization, accountability, collaboration, and proactive problem-solving in maintaining an effective rehabilitation program.
Through my Level II fieldwork at Doctors Hospital and Premier Therapy, I worked closely with patients facing neurological, orthopedic, and cognitive challenges. These experiences sharpened my clinical reasoning, adaptability, and EMR documentation skills within both acute and skilled nursing contexts. At Bridgeway Academy, I further developed my ability to support pediatric clients in areas such as sensory integration, vocational training, and social-emotional learning. Beyond fieldwork, I co-led a capstone research project titled “Effects of Occupational Therapy Services on the Occupational Functioning of Youth in the Alternative School Environment.” This work reinforced my passion for promoting occupational engagement in underserved populations and mental health, as well as strengthened my collaboration and data analysis skills.
My combination of direct patient care and rehabilitation leadership has given me a unique perspective on occupational therapy. I understand the importance of delivering effective, evidence-based interventions while also considering staffing, productivity, communication, documentation, regulatory requirements, and the overall operations of a rehabilitation program. I am confident that these experiences would allow me to contribute not only as a skilled clinician but also as a collaborative and dependable member of your organization.
I currently hold licensure to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of Ohio and maintain certifications including HIPAA compliance and American Heart Association BLS/AED certification. I bring enthusiasm, attention to detail, and a strong foundation in wellness and rehabilitation principles. I am eager to join a team that values compassionate care and evidence-based practice.
Thank you for considering my application. I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss how my education, clinical experience, and dedication to occupational therapy can support your organization’s mission. Please feel free to contact me at 740-***-**** or *****************@*****.*** to schedule an interview. Warm regards,
Kayleah J. Wright
