I am excited to express my interest in contributing my background and expertise to your team. Throughout my career, I’ve consistently delivered results in both mature and emerging markets. From spearheading complex sales strategies and securing key accounts to leading cross-functional teams and developing new revenue channels, I’ve maintained a sharp focus on driving growth and building long-term client relationships. My deep understanding of technical applications and formulation processes allows me to communicate effectively with both customers and internal R&D, bridging the gap between innovation and market needs. Key achievements in my career include:
• Driving double-digit revenue growth in competitive territories through strategic account management and solution-based selling.
• Successfully launching new product lines into niche markets, aligning product capabilities with customer requirements.
• Building strong networks across the coatings and chemical sectors, leveraging long-term industry relationships to open new business opportunities.
I am confident that my combination of technical knowledge, commercial insight, and leadership experience makes me a strong candidate for a role that values both performance and partnership. I welcome the opportunity to bring this experience to your organization and contribute to your continued success. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of discussing how I can support your goals and add value to your team
Summary of my Career Highlights:
I worked at Plascon Paints for almost 20 years. Having worked in various departments has afforded me the knowledge and experience to become an expert in my field.
Starting out in the Industrial & Furniture Sales Department: Increasing annual turnover for this division only from R8 million to R52 million.
Later moved over to the Trade division which allowed me the opportunity to gain experience and later become an expert as a Technical Sales consultant.
Secured the Bell Equipment Account (earth works and earth moving equipment). I converted the spraying division to PLASCON Epoxy Primer and Polyurethane Topcoat system, monthly spend excess of R1 million pm. This was done by running trials, assisting with spraying and painting prep and application advice and training to staff.
Victorious in converting Desmond’s Equipment Earth Moving Machinery - painting division to PLASCON. Monthly spend in excess of R600k per month
Transnet Coaches and Wagons Division, I set up spray booths and converted the spraying systems to PLASCON paints (average a million a month sales). Here as well I held extensive training sessions and support for the staff at Transnet – after hours and weekends.
I managed the team in the process of spraying the Transnet Business Class Trains with an automotive basecoat system (PRASA PROJECT) – many after hours and weekend support was offered to the team in order to get this project off smoothly and to ensure deadlines were managed.
I assisted in setting up UNIQUE KITCHEN DESIGN’s Acid Catalysed Spraying system and curtain coating machine.
I was instrumental in growing the road marking business in KZN to a substantially profitable division for Plascon Paints. Working in the greater KZN region and across Africa. I worked tirelessly on weekends travelling and carrying out training and support to the team (Lesotho, Tanzania, Mozambique).
I was the National Sales Consultant of the year for 1 year and for 2 years I was regional consultant of the year 2008/2009/2010.
Most of the popular high-rise buildings and shopping complexes painted in KZN was project managed by myself, from specifications to application on test panels to issuing of the guarantee documents – namely Gateway Theatre of Shopping, Marine Parade Hotel, Galleria to name a few.
In my role as Area Technical Manager (East Coast) customer satisfaction was a top priority. Resulting in numerous letters of appreciation and outstanding service excellence.
Reduced the company claims payout by R1 million, due to strict site control and documenting site visits and inspections.
Assisted in under writing company guarantee processes for the trade division.
Much of my time was spent assisting in the R&D department, working in the lab to enhance product formulations and in new product development- creating formulation of products for market request.
Project Managed the coating of the Moses Mabhida Staduim (KZN) and Cape Town Airport New Wing with JOTUN.
Compiled training manual and modules regarding painting and applications to be used nationally in the Training Academy.
Many Thanks
