Boom Vancouver, BC
VP of Engineering 07/2021 - Present
At Boom.tv, I split my time between hands-on engineering and technical leadership, staying close to the code while setting architectural direction. A major focus has been Starpower.ai, where I’ve been working on combining large vision-language models with image generation pipelines to produce brand-consistent advertising assets. The challenge here is less about individual models and more about orchestration: stitching together multiple models, pipelines, and heuristics into something reliable and production-ready. Alongside AI work, I led and contributed directly to several web platforms. I helped build teamgames.gg, a production Next.js and Laravel application, and an experimental layered NFT project (projectarcade.org) using Next.js, Moralis APIs, and IPFS. Across projects, my emphasis has been on pragmatic architecture, fast iteration, and keeping systems simple enough that small teams can move quickly without creating long-term operational drag.
Midnight Society Vancouver, BC
Director of Web Platform, Game Backend & Authentication 02/2022 - 02/2025 At Midnight Society, I owned the architecture and implementation of the web platform, backend services, and authentication systems for a high-profile gaming and Web3 brand collaboration. One of the earliest milestones was launching the Founders membership application site, which handled close to 400,000 applicants in a single week under intense public attention. After the application phase, I led the engineering effort for the sale of 10,000 Founders Pass NFTs, which sold out in three days. The platform supported both traditional credit card payments and crypto, with a strong focus on UX so that non-crypto-native gamers could onboard without friction.
Architecturally, the system was built around a clean separation of concerns: a Next.js frontend paired with a Hasura-based GraphQL backend. We leaned heavily into an event-driven, serverless model, using PostgreSQL change events to trigger backend logic. This approach allowed us to scale for bursty traffic patterns while keeping hosting costs low and reliability high. Over time, the platform expanded to support game authentication, entitlements, season passes, payments, and internal admin and moderation tools. WonderSwipe Vancouver, BC
Founder 01/2017 - 02/2022
WonderSwipe started as an attempt to rethink how people interact with search and information on the web. I designed and built the product end to end, focusing on making discovery and curation 10–100 faster at the interaction level rather than just improving raw search results. The product treated the web as a personal notebook: summarizing pages, auto-highlighting key ideas, and letting users curate knowledge over time, with an eventual goal of socializing that knowledge into expertise networks. The app was built primarily with React Native, with a strong emphasis on performance, responsiveness, and intuitive UX. www.enhancv.com Powered by

Experience
Tiket Vancouver, BC
Director Of Research And Development 02/2019 - 02/2021 At Tiket.com, I built and led engineering teams in Canada while working closely with teams in Indonesia. A major focus was Tiket’s live streaming platform, where we needed to move fast with limited resources and still support large-scale live audiences. We delivered a public MVP in roughly two months, architecting a frontend-heavy system with a backend-for-frontend layer to keep operational costs low while still scaling to hundreds of thousands of concurrent viewers and live commenters. The stack included TypeScript, PWA technologies, Golang, Node.js, and Firestore, along with early experiments in end-to-end type safety. Before that, I led teams delivering multiple cross-platform mobile apps using React Native, consistently shipping production-quality apps in under two months. I also established strong engineering fundamentals: rigorous code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, E2E testing, and a culture focused on ownership, learning, and continuous improvement. isoHunt Inc Vancouver, BC
Founder & CTO 01/2003 - 10/2013
I founded isoHunt and led engineering from its early days through its growth into one of the world’s largest websites, peaking at around 40 million monthly active users and ranking among the top 200 sites globally. The work was deeply technical and infrastructure-heavy, long before modern cloud tooling existed. I designed and scaled global server infrastructure across two continents, built custom high-availability systems, and implemented master–master MySQL replication before off- the-shelf solutions were available. On the product side, I customized Lucene and developed a proprietary ranking algorithm to deliver fast, highly relevant BitTorrent search results at massive scale. Beyond engineering, I worked directly with content producers across music, film, software, and games to explore how large-scale internet distribution could coexist with sustainable business models. During this time, I was frequently interviewed by major media outlets including CBC, BBC, Forbes, and the Financial Post.
