Worked as Technical Consultant (from July 2020 to June 2020) to put up an Organic Bio-Fertilizer plant to convert Poultry Litter to Organic Bio-Fertilizer using Microbial Fermentation. Technical Head, Sohar Asphalt LLC – Muscat, Oman Dec 2016 – Jul 2018

(Sohar Asphalt is in the process of setting up a 1,100,000 MTA of Bitumen grass root topping up Refinery project to produce Bitumen from heavy crude)

• Worked as HOD (Process) & Technical head for the upcoming refinery with process units comprising Crude Desalter unit, Atmospheric Distillation Unit, Vacuum Distillation unit, Sour water stripper unit, Sulphur Recovery, and associated utilities and tank farm

• Completed Basic engineering & FEED package with Technicas Reunidas

• Carried out Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) & Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) along with Worley Parsons, and received EIA certification for the project

• Sorted out problems in design and optimised the crudes. Identified the crude for design purpose

• Joined as COO and elevated to the company Board to work as Whole Time Director (Operations) by May 2014

• Salvaged and successfully restarted the plant in a record time of 45 days following an emergency shutdown during devastating flood on 1st December 2015 wherein all the equipment and piping were submerged under 3m water causing extensive damage

• Helped the company to gain maximum insurance benefit for the company for the flood damage

• Successfully completed a long pending Normal Paraffin revamp from in 15 days against projected 60 days resulting in higher production a saving of foreign exchange to the tune of USD 8..6 million (INR 50Cr.) towards procurement of Normal Paraffin

• Coordinated with licensor UOP and completed PFD & PID reviews incorporating all improvements

• Implemented the revamp of the plant which was pending since 2002, by adopting a new implementation strategy which increases plant capacity and reduced dependence on imports. Profitabilty increased to INR 50 Cr. from INR 5 Cr. after this implementation

• Implemented strict adherence to pollution norms and diverted treated effluent to other units to have zero discharge of water.

• Managed the revamp & expansion project of the unit to enhance production capacity of normal paraffin

& LAB. The LAB plant was revamped from 50,000 MTA to 100,000 MTA. The Normal Paraffin plant capacity was increased from 46,000 MTA to 56,000 MTA

• Replaced the adsorbent chambers and increased the production of normal paraffin to 150% of the design capacity

• Collaborated in the development of a temperature controlled reactor to enhance conversion in the PACOL unit (From Adiabatic to Isothermal) along with UOP & CEPSA, Spain

• Revamped the air pre-heater of the hot oil heater increasing the combustion air temperature from 105 C to 280®C effecting reduced fuel consumption

• Improved the flexibility of the plant enabling production of different grades to meet market requirements

• Stabilized plant operations and boosted production by leveraging hidden margins in the plant

• Successfully commissioned the epichlorohydrin and allied chlorides process units, utilities & effluent treatment plant (ETP) without support from the licensor

• Successfully bypassed a reactor handling HF without compromising on quality. This increased production by 25% and halved the safety risks by reducing handling of HF.
