Study of Multiferroic materials using diffraction techniques like synchrotron and neutron diffraction and spectroscopic studies by X-ray absorption and photo-electron spectroscopy. Also have hands on experience on Dielectric and superconducting materials. Salient features of Ph.D. work output:

Experimental Skills

Sample Preparation : Solid-state route, Sol-gel route. Lab based Techniques

1. Sample Preparation : Expertise in Preparation of phase pure multiferroic and dielectric materials through Solid State reaction method. Have an experience on making samples by Sol-Gel route.

2. Instrumentation work :

I. Hands on experience in making high temperature Tubular furnace upto 1200 0

C.

II. Fabrication of Low temperature dielectric set-up down to 10K. III. Fabrication of High Temperature Dielectric set-up, working up to 1000 0

C.

IV. Experience on handling Lakeshore and Eurotherm temperature controller, Superconducting Magnet power supply, Current and Voltage source meter and various features of electronic lab equipments.

3. Hands on Experience on Experimental Techniques

A) Lab Based Techniques

I. Expertise in performing X-ray diffraction using high resolution x-ray diffraction system of M/s Bruker make D8-Discover model & powder diffraction using 18 kW rotating anode Rigaku machine. II . Expertise in Reitveld refinement for Structural and Magnetic phase analysis of powder samples measured by Lab, Synchrotron and Neutron diffraction measurements, respectively. III. Expertise in Performing Dielectric measurements at Low and High temperature – using Alpha-A High Frequency Analyzer, NOVOCONTROL .

IV. Expertise in high temperature thermal measurements such as Differential Scanning Calorimetry using modulated Differential Scanning Calorimeter of TA instrument 2910 module. V. Hands on experience on performing thermal conductivity measurements, down to 10K on home- made setup.

VI. Experience on performing Specific Heat measurements by Relaxation method at Low temperature and high magnetic fields using M/s Quantum Design make PPMS system (2K - 300K & 14 Tesla). VII. Experience on magnetization measurements Low temperature and high magnetic fields using M/s Quantum Design make MPMS system (2K - 350K & 14 Tesla) & SQUID (2K-300K & 7 Tesla). VIII. Experience on P-E loop measurements on ferroelectric bulk samples using M/s Radiant make P- E loop tracer.

B) Synchrotron/Neutron based Techniques

I. Exposure to Synchrotron based techniques such as powder X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption spectroscopic measurements in transmission and fluorescence geometry at BL-12, INDUS-2, RRCAT Indore.

II. Exposure to X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic measurements on PES beam line of UGC-DAE, CSR at INDUS-I, RRCAT, Indore.

III. Exposure to temperature and magnetic field dependent Neutron diffraction measurements of powder samples at UGC-DAE, CSR, Mumbai beam line at Dhruva Reactor, BARC, Trombay

(MUMBAI).

Data Analysis:

I. Expertise in Fitting and analysis of LAB XRD data using Rietveld and LeBail method using FullProf & PowderCell program.

II. Expertise in Fitting and analysis of SYNCHROTRON POWDER X-ray diffraction data using FullProf program.

III. Analysis of XANES data.

IV. Expertise in Fitting and analysis of NEUTRON POWDER DIFFRACTION data using FullProf program.

IV. Fitting and analysis of XPS data using XPS Peak Fit software. Computational Skills

Operating systems: Windows, DOS.

Software packages: Full Prof Suite, Powder Cell, Vesta, Origin, MS Office, Orient Express, LaTex, Graphics, Programming using C,C

and MATLAB.
