program, located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, is a CARF accredited, intensive short-term inpatient program for individuals struggling with addiction or co
occurring with addiction and mental health. Clients consist of males and females, aged 18 or over with a substance dependence disorder, including those
receiving or in need of medication-assisted services for opiate addiction. Psychiatric services are provided on-site. Post-discharge referrals are made to a
variety of housing resources as well as outpatient addiction and mental health services. Clients who complete successfully are encouraged to become
members of the alumni group to offer hope to those who are beginning the recovery process.

21 AS LONG AS THEY WERE IN SCHOOL, THEY HAD DCF ASSISTANCE. THE RESIDENTS WERE DIFFERENTLY ABOUT to AGE OUT OF THE DCF
SYSTEM, WERE UP FOR ADOPTION, AND PARENTS HAD LONG SIGNED AWAY PERMANENT CUSTODY OF RIGHTS OR LOST THE RIGHTS to
THEIR CHILDREN to THE DEPARTMENT. THE RESIDENTS WERE DIAGNOSED WITH VARIOUS CO-OCCURRING DISORDERS FROM PTSD, BI
POLAR, SCHIZO-EFFFECTIVE DISORDER, AUTISM AND MANY MORE. SEVERAL OF THE RESIDENT'S SELF REPORTED SMOKING MARIJUANA
AND DISCLOSED TRYING to BEGIN THE PROCESS to GET A MEDICAL CARD SO IT WOULD BE LEGAL to USE MARIJUANA AS A MEDICATION. AS
THIS WAS A TEMPORARY POSITION, THE AGENCY ENDED THE ASSIGNMENT. I HAVE THE OPTION to APPLY to THE AGENCY OR WAIT FOR
ANOTHER PLACEMENT FROM THE TEMPORARY AGENCY.
WOMEN'S RECOVERY SPECIALIST ADVANCED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

Women's Recovery Specialist works from a trauma informed, gender specific, and strength-based perspective to assist and provide recovery case
management services to women whom have accessed Women and Children's Residential Treatment Facilities. Responsibilities include initial intake with
women when they enter a woman and children's residential substance abuse treatment facility in designated geographical area. Women's Recovery
Specialist work with clients while in treatment to ensure quality, appropriate services are available while in the residential environment. Caseload consists of
60+ women pregnant, parenting or in the process of reunification with their children. Clients are followed by the Women's Recovery Specialist as they return
to the community to support recovery and sustained change for themselves and their families for up to 6-9 months. Work is done autonomously as we
represent ourselves as mentors to clients served. A calendar is set up weekly that is shared with supervisor. Our notes and work must match our agendas as
well as the success of our clients in the community. Notes are entered into an electronic record system, Advix, as well as treatment plans and reviews.
Position requires close collaboration with Department of Children and Families and the residential facility counselors and supervising clinical team.
Community resources and linkage are necessary for clients' needs such as diaper banks, resources for vocational training, returning to school to obtain DED
and continuing education such a Community College. Collaboration for the success of women's recovery from substance use, trauma, domestic violence and
related issues with other members of Advanced Behavioral Health and the community as a whole is required. Supervision and support directly provided by
assistant program director Diane Achenbach-Zatorski, LCSW resigned January 2019.
