PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
The Shepherd Place – Executive Director

Job duties include but are not limited to processing payroll using ADP, grant writing, fundraising: soliciting community support, (groups, churches, individuals), as well as statewide support, where applicable. Grant writing to obtain funding and maintain grants and compliances. Participate in public appearance and public speaking engagements when requested or appropriate, Establishing & maintaining effective working relationships w/local city, county and state officials in promoting homeless and social service systems as well as shelter operations & activities, supervise 15 staff and up to 20 volunteers, advocate for the homelessness in Dover/Kent County in applicable forums, act as spokesperson for shelter activities, events and matters of homelessness with media outlets as appropriate, provide testimony/information to legislative bodies when appropriate or as requested, provide timely, accurate reports to the Board of Directors. Ensure safety & security of agency property & resources, provide a safe environment for staff to work, provide a safe place for all residents, maintain shelter appearance as well as transitional housing units. Maintain the mission of The Shepherd Place, work with treasure to budget as well as the auditor.
The Shepherd Place - Case Manager

Job duties include but are not limited to meeting with clients on initial entry of shelter within 3 days of entering. Assess the client to make a plan of action for their stay at the shelter. Refer clients to various organizations for other assistance as far as employment, housing, counseling, etc. Meet with clients weekly to see their progression, assist clients with job searches online and creating resumes. Make sure client’s needs are being met while staying in the shelter. Transport clients if needed to various state facilities and sometimes for housing opportunities. Conduct random and scheduled inspections on the client’s rooms while at the shelter as well as our transitional house. Work with other community agencies to try and assist our clients as much as possible so that they can gain independence and stability on their own. Work within the community to find resolutions for the homeless. Assist with housing applications and work closely with landlords to try and find availability. Assist with supervising our part time staff of 8 to 10 people.
