Started the business in 1989 after being honorably discharged from the Air Force where I received my computer operations and programming, and repair training, communications, and vehicle operations. Over the 40 plus years in the private sector, it has been and exciting journey developing, building, marketing, and operating the companies associated under the corporate umbrella. The lessons learned have proven invaluable in all aspects of my life. Interpersonal skills, HR, Public/Inspirational Speaking and Communication, and training are the strengths gained from the years. It is with great pride and accomplishment that in review, all of the businesses were/are successful and debt free with positive bottom lines and net revenues. All were built from ground up with zero beginning operating capitol.
Computer/IT
In the over 40 years since my discharge from the Air Force, I have had the good fortune of developing an impressive knowledge base spanning repair, consulting, sales, training, networking, graphics design, and Web/Internet services. My strengths are in the Windows/Microsoft platforms, but I am equally as comfortable and familiar with Mac, Unix, and Linux. I was tasked with developing and managing the first phone tech support group of 20 phone technicians for Dell Computers when it was still in its formative years as PC LIMITED in Austin. My responsibilities also bridged over as the assistant manager of the customer returns repair department. Telecommunications Service and Sales
I have sold, installed, serviced, and supported multiline business phone systems (including VOIP) in the central Texas area. Additionally, I have sold and supported (Tier Two Technical Support) Cell phones and equipment of all the major carriers. Most notably for NEXTEL at the campus when it was in Temple in the Blackberry Tier Two Advanced Technical Support Group.
Transportation Industry
I have driven commercial vehicles since 1980 beginning with my tour in the AIR FORCE. I gained my civilian class A CDL in 1999 and have driven tractor trailer trucks, dump trucks (including belly dump), seated coaches, and most predominantly Entertainers buses since. I have experience with all types of buses, semi-trucks, trailers, dump trucks, flatbed and box. My driving record is clean with no accidents and over a 5 million combined miles logged over the road. From 2005 to 2006 managed 5 buses that were based here in central Texas and established my bus company — Bettis Celebrity Coach. From 2010 to 2012 ran my shuttle and limousine transportation company in Gainesville, Texas. I also worked with a local charter bus company in Temple, Texas as a driver, driver training and safety manager, DOT and OSHA Compliance Manager, and full charge bookkeeper. They had a fleet of 20 buses and 30 drivers. The business grossed over 5 million a year. Leisure and Entertainment
I have played drums for close to 40 years. I have toured with a few groups as the drummer and at times as the road manager. I also have experience as a back line tech, sound technician, and merchandise manager/sales. One of the local entertainers I had the pleasure of working with was Asleep at the Wheel. They were the most enjoyable of all the groups. From 2006 to 2009, I worked in the leisure industry as a Trail Guide and Wrangler at Trail Ride facilities in West Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. I also worked for Nantahala Outdoor Center as a bus driver and white-water rafting guide. I drove a shuttle bus and worked as a Jeep Guide/CDL Driver for venues in Denali Park Area of Alaska for the summer of 2012. I also worked in Juneau, Alaska a portion of the summer working as a gold panning guide, CDL Driver, and photographer. Restaurant/Food Service
Growing up as a youth, I worked in my aunt’s family restaurant. This proved to be an invaluable education that developed a well-disciplined work ethic and people management skills that has been the foundation of my success in my professional career. After being Honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1988, I worked for several restaurants, mostly Pizza venues, while attending college and establishing my businesses. I have always enjoyed the Pizza Business the most. Most notable positions held were assistant manager and training/safety manager with Pizza Inn, Mr. Gatti’s, and Dominos. EDUCATION
