Pharmacy Specialist
Preferred Medical Network - Louisville, KY
February 2015 to August 2019
As a Pharmacy Specialist, I was tasked with the timely and efficient processing of prescriptions. This responsibility included securing authorizations from adjusters and nurse case managers for non-formulary medications, ensuring that all necessary approvals were obtained. My role required me to address inquiries related to pricing discrepancies and to develop solutions for various pricing challenges encountered by clients.
I entered authorizations for medications to streamline their processing and conducted thorough research to resolve issues related to processing, pricing, and other concerns affecting claimants and adjusters. As part of my daily responsibilities, I generated rejection reports to monitor and track the status of claims, identifying those that required additional processing or further authorization requests.
Additionally, I created comprehensive worksheets to aid my colleagues in researching and addressing claim rejections. I managed the setup of claims based on referrals received via email or telephone communications and liaised with pharmacies to provide essential billing information related to insurance.
When appropriate, I initiated requests for letters of medical necessity from prescribers and compiled various reports for adjusters as requested. My position necessitated responding to incoming phone calls from pharmacies, adjusters, and claimants, thereby providing essential support and assistance. Furthermore, I facilitated the establishment of accounts for claimants with mail order pharmacies, ensuring a seamless experience for all parties involved.
