Inpatient and Outpatient Pharmacy Technician at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth since July 2019. Communicated with patients to collect information about prescriptions and medical history. Worked and has experience using multiple programs, including; Genesis, CHCS, Essentris, Pyxis, Q-Flow, P2K, Parata.
Calculated dosage, filled prescriptions, and prepared with accuracy. Answered phone calls from patients, nurses, and doctors addressing questions and requests. Compounding sterile IVs in the hood with accuracy and using aseptic techniques. Has experience with TPN compounding. Maintained proper drug storage procedures, registries, and records for controlled and non-controlled drugs. Trained over 25 new technicians in Inpatient training, including IV compounding, Triaging, Pyxis Runs, and general knowledge of pharmacy workflow. Provided outpatient medications to over 400 patients each day spent in the country. Prepared preoperative and post operative orders for surgeries done on the ship in each country. Monitored crash cart trays, proper expiration of medications, and training of over 8 technicians in IV compounding procedures. Participated in over 15 drills for different codes, traumas, and disasters, which prepares for many high-stress situations. Prepackaged over 300 types of medications for each med-site to ensure quality care for the citizens of each country. Developed new procedures aboard the USNS Comfort to improve workflow and patient care. Expired out, restocked, and organized over 500 different medications in the Comfort’s pharmacy. Lead the entire pharmacy team in over 8 evolutions to build a great pharmacy from an unused and broken down one. In 2019, went through and passed Advanced Pharmacy Technician school at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX.
