Performed schematic entry & PSPICE simulation of analog switching power supply using OrCAD/Cadence 16. Performed transformer testing & extraction of transformer parameters for PSPICE.
• Electrical Engineer/Contractor – Hach, Loveland, CO (11/2011 – 10/2012) Troubleshot an existing power supply design & identified design flaws. Re-design of power supplies for +3V,
+5V, +12V supply using LT1871 SEPIC converter using LTspice. Designed over-voltage protection circuitry with discrete components (resistors, transistors, zener, MOSFET). Designed LCD backlight driver using a constant current PWM driver topology. Worked with 4.2V Li-ion batteries & IC battery charger circuit. Schematic

Performed circuit simulation using LTspice as needed for EPSA. Wrote test procedure & performed laboratory testing & characterization of cryodiode board.
• Electrical Engineer/Contractor – Terumo, Ann Arbor, MI (09/2010 – 12/2010) Worked for a medical electronics company performing worst-case analysis (minimum/maximum) on Power Manager Board. Performed mathematical analysis for accuracy of temperature probe over temperature. Performed schematic review & component de-rating analysis. Participated in group design review meetings.
• Electrical Engineer/Contractor – L-3 Communications, Santa Rosa, CA (09/2009 – 05/2010) Performed PCB layout / re-layout for existing Power Board & Processor Board. Identified many poor implementations of capacitor de-coupling.
Performed schematic review & PCB layout review of 3 boards. Identified circuit design de-rating issues with design for resistors, capacitors, opto-isolators, LEDs. Performed PCB layout using Altium.
• Electrical Engineer/Contractor – Goodrich Aerospace, Albuquerque, NM (03/2008 – 03/2009) Performed single event upset (SEU) radiation analysis for voltage regulators for -5V, 3.3V, 1.5V. Identified circuit design flaws, proposed & simulated design changes to mitigate SEU. Analysis & simulation using LTSpice. Drawing system block diagrams using VISIO. Supporting preliminary design review (PDR). Performed schematic design reviews of controller & power supply boards. Wrote board level test procedure to test out analog/digital functionality of power supply board. Performed Worst case analysis on Controller Board using Mathcad.
• Electrical Engineer/Contractor – Honeywell, Glendale, AZ (02/2008 – 03/2008) Performed simulation & analysis of a 1553 data bus signal integrity. Performed Monte Carlo analysis of component tolerances. Analysis & simulation using LTSpice.
• Electrical Engineer/Contractor – Physical Optics, Torrance, CA (11/2007 – 01/2008) Performed PCB layout for high density USB radio transceiver for mixed signal analog/digital layout. Design had 916 MHz antenna & 2.45 GHz Antenna. Antenna keep out zones further reduced usable layout space making the PCB layout even more challenging.
Board specifications: 2.57 inch x 1.50 inch, 155 SMT components, double sided PCB, 10 layers, 1 ounce copper, 10 mil vias, 0.092” thickness. Performed PCB layout using Altium.
• Electrical Engineer/Contractor – NeoGuide Systems, Fort Collins, CO (09/2007 – 10/2007) Remotely tasked to review schematics, BOMs, fixed part number errors, fixed naming conventions for resistors
& capacitors on BOM, verified datasheets associated with each line item. Writing engineering change orders. Used Arena software for BOM changes.

• Electrical Engineer/Contractor – Dako, Fort Collins, CO (05/2007 – 06/2007) Tasked to reduce the excessive radiated emissions problems on analog DC/DC card. Used spectrum analyzer and clamp-on current probe to identify common mode noise on power cable. Used ferrite bead to reduce common mode noise.
• Electrical Engineer/Contractor – Andreatta Engineering, Fort Collins, CO (06/2006 – 01/2007) Designed two radiation tolerant linear voltage regulators: 20V @ 5.5A, 24V @ 2.2A using discrete components only for a satellite mission. Linear regulator had following features: power enable, over-current protection, reverse voltage protection, virtual ground, virtual ground enable signal, & low off quiescent current. Wrote theory of operation. Design, analysis, & simulation using LTSpice.
• Electrical Engineer/Contractor – Dako, Fort Collins, CO (01/2006 – 07/2006) Troubleshot a high voltage flyback converter. Performed re-design of high voltage flyback converter using LT1737 that was digitally controllable with output voltage range of 120 VDC to 430 VDC, 30 W. Performed schematic entry with OrCAD. Wrote theory of operation for flyback converter.
• Electrical Engineer/Contractor – Woodward, Fort Collins, CO (10/2004 – 08/2005) Designed speed governor control board for high temperature environment of 125C and EMC compliance. Performed analog & digital, switch mode power supply circuit design for harsh marine engine application. Performed schematic entry & PCB layout using Mentor Expedition.
• Electrical Engineer – Decatur Electronics, Fort Collins, CO (05/2001 – 08/2004) Designed switch mode power supplies, re-design of police radar boards for upgrades. • Electrical Engineer – URS, Boulder, CO (07/2000 – 05/2001) Performed complex testing, troubleshooting, & integration of RF electronics components for transmitter at 915 MHz & 1290 MHz weather doppler radar system.
Designed & tested RF pulse shaping circuit. Designed analog & digital circuitry for a battery backup/monitoring system. Schematics were generated with OrCAD. Performed PCB layout.

• Identified Single Event Transient (SET) events that caused electronics to shut down in circuit simulation & caused a non-recovery.
