WORK EXPERIENCE
Ochsner Health System: March 2023 – Current
Sales Tax Accountant – Experienced Accountant
As a sales tax accountant I am responsible for taking all prior month end entries from accounts payable data to review and adjust taxes as needed with current tax rules. I am also responsible for uploading journal entries into Lawson to accrue sales tax liability and remit them to parish and state taxing authorities across multiple states. In addition, general ledger account reconciliations are needed, classifying cost centers, reviewing categories with major/minor’s and their taxability for all states we operate in. After month end duties I am to do a financial review of several accounts to see if there are any variances in tax needed to be corrected. Working on various projects is another vital part of my role in the sales tax department depending on what we are needing to make our department run as efficiently as possible. International Snubbing Services: September 2018 – February 2023 Purchasing Coordinator
As a purchasing coordinator I am responsible for getting quotes and negotiating prices for parts and equipment needed by the shop hands and rigs. Once I’ve compared the prices between the vendors and make sure the parts are correct, I choose the best option to proceed with creating a purchase order. After the purchase order is submitted and approved, I send it to the vendor and keep track of when the order will arrive at our facility so that we get the items in a timely manner. I’m also in charge of shipping parts/equipment overseas and directly to specific rig locations as well as making sure that the items make it to their destination. Alongside the purchasing roll I’m also responsible for creating essential procurement reporting to track key department metrics such as open purchase orders, inventory levels, on-time delivery, and cost management.
Toce Law Firm: September 2017 – February 2018 Accountant Tasks for this position required preparing settlement statements to disburse settlement funds for clients. Examine client’s medical records to make sure that hospitals were filing bills with the client’s insurance in a timely fashion while making sure that the insurance companies paid their part of the bill. I am also responsible for keeping track of the firm’s income/expenses and reconciling multiple bank accounts as well as keeping track of the client’s accounts and expenses incurred to reimburse the firm after the case is settled.
Singleton, Kellner, Bolding, Avant & Associates, LLC: May 2016 – August 2017 Accounting Tax Intern As an accounting intern I am to prepare federal and state tax returns for both individuals and businesses. Also, I am to reconcile bank statements to clients’ books using QuickBooks and prepare financial statements from client provided documents as well as prepare tax projections for clients by request and prepare payroll reports.
