This was a very rewarding position. Not only did I learn volumes about animal care but also assisted in many adoptions of both dogs and cats. I handled feral cats who were brought in for spay or neuter or miscellaneous
surgeries. Taking the dogs out for exercise was always fun. They would go on outings throughout the town or just extended walks. They had runs to play and exercise. I worked the front desk as well taking applications for adoptions, answering phones, filing, handling donations and doing meet and greets with the animals and their potential new families. Cleaning cages and doing feedings were a daily part of the job as well as loving on all the animals in our care.

During that time in the front office, I would assist with the adoptions by getting the paperwork in order, setting up appointments for their shots and spay/neuter. They had a final exam before going home. If any medications were needed, they were provided with instructions for use. Intake was unfortunately a big part of the job.
