Training Congolese ministers in the Ubangui, Dem. Rep. of Congo 1966 - 1986: After graduating from Wheaton College in Illinois in June, 1966, I began 20 years of ministry in the Belgian Congo (now Democratic Republic of Congo) with the Evangelical Free Church Overseas Missions Department. The first term was training leaders of Jeunesse Pour Christ (Youth for Christ) for 40 + churches in 5 districts of the Ubangui province, in northwest Congo. The second term I taught church pastors in seminars in 45+ churches in 4 districts in the same region. The last 2 terms, July 1978
- June 1986, I taught future pastors at the Institut Biblique de l'Ubangui. Construction 1987 - 1991
In 1987 I began working for JC & Brown Construction in Anaheim, CA, supervising construction of homes. In 1991 the economy dove and in June all of us superintendents were laid off except the owner's 2 sons. Series of jobs 1991 - 2014
Beginning in July, 1991 in Murrieta: house and yard maintenance and repair for friends; construction of Murrieta Calvary Chapel by the Lake; 1998: night counselor for Orange County Probation Department; March, 2000 - March, 2004: Maintenance Technician at Yorba Linda Friends Church; April, 2004 - January, 2005: care-giver for my ailing parents near Mt. Hermon, CA; 2006, reconstruction of Wycliffe Bible Translation building, greatly damaged by rebels in Bunia, northeastern D.R. Congo; 2007 -2013, building health business Dynamic Life Resources, marketing dynamic natural health products and efficient lubrication and gasoline enhancers;
Coaching and teaching children 2014 - 2015
With Wycliffe Associates and RFIS (RainForest International School) in Cameroon, Africa, I enjoyed coaching children from numerous countries (speaking numerous languages) in 1st grade - Jr. High School: to read, write and speak in English as their second language. Coaching Africans in Bible translation Sept. - Oct. 2016 In September, 2016, I flew to Tanzania, Africa with 13 Americans and Canadians to coach nationals in translation of the Bible into Swahili. In 2 weeks they translated 50 Old Testament Bible stories and 35% of the New Testament. They returned to their homes to finish the translation of the New Testament in a few months.
In October, we flew from Tanzania to Ivory Coast in west Africa. There, 13 of us coached 4 teams of 10 - 13 nationals from 4 language groups who translated about 35% of the New Testament into their own languages. They returned to their tribes with plans to complete the New Testament in their mother tongues in 3 - 12 months.
2023-2025 I was caring for boys/men with autism.
