Senior Project Automation Manager in charge of Engineering and Construction projects associated with the ADM Program Aurora Digital Transformation of the Decatur, IL East Plants Soy Processing plants in Decatur, IL Digital Modernization and Transformation associated with the Program Aurora replacement of existing Rockwell PLC (Programable Logic Controllers) control systems with Emerson DeltaV control system, with special emphasis in the design and construction of Emerson DeltaV DCS (Distributed Control System) system replacement of Rockwell D3, PLANTPAX and D5 PLC control systems in existing operating plants, where scheduled shutdowns needed to be coordinated and scheduled 6 or more months ahead of time.

The project is comprised of 8 phases with an estimated TIC of $80+MM, the project worked on the following:

Infrastructure which included the civil, mechanical, structural associated with a new Emerson supplied Remote Instrument Enclosure (RIE) / Data Center Building with new servers, modification of an existing storage area to a new IO room, an electrical pipe bridge to interconnect several plant areas over railroad tracks and the installation of a fiber optic link interconnecting several plant areas and the new IO rooms as well as the Corporate Data Center.

Preparation and Extraction area of Soy Grains with the replacement of over 17 Rockwell sub panels with the new Emerson DeltaV system components. The preliminary work of checking existing wiring, connections, installation of UPS and clean power, grounding and WIFI systems was performed previous to the plant shutdowns. During the shutdown the panels where replaced and then proceeded to perform commissioning and start up by plant Automation personnel as well as Emerson / Experitec personnel.

In the Fluor Mill A, the same was performed with 11 PLC’s changed out, though a big difference was that several shorter shutdowns where coordinated, allowing for an easier process of placing system back into operations

The Isolate 1 plant was in the final stages of de FEL 3 process starting to move to the FEL 3 / 4
