Project summary: Worked on a Workday Pay Group split initiative focused on separating salaried and hourly employees from a shared biweekly payroll cycle, addressing a recurring payroll bottleneck caused by hourly timesheet dependencies during accelerated holiday pay runs. Played an active role in the Benefits and Payroll workstream, supporting the reconfiguration of Benefit Group eligibility rules, enrollment event rules, and deduction begin date logic to reflect the new Pay Group structure. Worked closely with payroll administrators and benefits partners to keep deduction processing accurate, carrier feeds running smoothly, and payroll close on track for both populations, reducing the risk of coverage gaps, missed deductions, and payroll errors during the transition. Also brought a broad understanding of how the change rippled across other areas of the business from Recruiting and Onboarding to Absence, Integrations, and Security, which helped the team stay ahead of cross-functional risks and make more connected decisions throughout the project.

Responsibility:

Designed and deployed integrations using Workday Studio, Orchestrations, EIB, and Core Connectors for benefits, payroll, and third-party systems.

Helped reconfigure Benefit Group eligibility rules and enrollment event rules to reflect the new Pay Group structure, making sure both salaried and hourly employees had the right benefit plan access after the split.

Developed and enhanced outbound EIB integrations to incorporate slip group configuration changes, ensuring seamless data flow and alignment across all impacted integration touchpoints.

Leveraged Core Connector: Workers (CCW) to manage change events triggered by the mass Pay Group reassignment, and helped coordinate a Full-Diff Extract to avoid a large uncontrolled data dump hitting the payroll vendor all at once.

Built Workday Orchestrate workflows that trigger automatically when someone changes jobs. This kept our data moving between systems in real-time without needing a developer to write a ton of custom code.
