Summary: Marathon employed me from South Africa primarily to enhance their Property Administration system which at the time was running as a text-mode system on a Unix server. I migrated this system to a web-based application with a JSF front-end, initially, and then later enhanced it with a VUE.js front-end. I employed various programmers along the way to work in an agile environment. I also developed a full construction management system, an accounting / budgeting system and various sub-systems surrounding those, including MQTT-based messaging with remote water meters which I also developed the firmware for. We used a wealth of technologies during the 26 years, including Kafka, ActiveMQ and MQTT for inter-system communications.
