Wide range of experience in medical assisting, lab collection & completion, disability claims, surgery scheduling, appointment scheduling, insurance prior authorization, casting, DME application, adult and pediatric patient treatment.
Education:
AMT, Registered Medical Assistant since 2015
Missouri Baptist School of Nursing, 1989 – 1990
Southwest Missouri State University, 1988-1989
Pattonville Sr. High School, Graduated 1988
Work Experience:
Quality Specialist: Quincy Medical Group, 04/2026 - (current) I am currently supporting the Quality Measure Management team by identifying Care Gaps in patient’s treatment history and attempting to coordinate care for those patients that may otherwise ‘slip through the cracks’. While this is important to work for patient’s care, it is not what I thought the position would involve. I have decided to search for something that I will find more satisfying and that uses my abilities more fully. Senior Administrative Assistant: SSM SLU Plastic Surgery, 06/2025 – 04/2026 I coordinated the schedules for 6 Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery physicians, as well as maintained their licensure, DEA, BNDD, society memberships, facility credentialing. I additionally managed the department’s support sta which included 1 PA, 2 RN’s, and 2 surgery schedulers. I also covered the position/duties of a ‘surgery scheduler’ for the Chief of the department who did primarily hand and trauma/cancer reconstruction surgeries but also did general plastic surgery procedures. I worked closely with the Residency Coordinator as we were a teaching facility, and we had an active and sought after program for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery through St. Louis University School of Medicine (SLU, or SLUCare). I worked in tandem with the trauma and cancer teams as our surgeon’s assistance was often required for their patients. I was looked to for guidance and often aided in resolving sensitive situations with patients, physicians, residents, and support sta with utmost discretion. I thoroughly enjoyed my work as an Administrative Assistant and the physician’s & sta I work with. However, I needed to move away from the area to be closer to family, and working remotely was not an option for my position. I sincerely hated to leave, but there were no options that supported what I needed. Surgical Coordinator: SSM SLU Vascular Surgery, 10/2022 – 06/01/25 I coordinated surgeries for 4 of the 5 Vascular Surgeons in the Department of Vascular Surgery at SSM SLUCare. This included not only coordinating dates within the individual surgeon’s schedule but also coordinating along with the other 4 physicians that utilized the same block time in the OR at 3 di erent facilities. I make sure all preoperative testing and clearances that were needed were obtained, as well as prior authorizations obtained in a timely manner from the patient’s insurance companies. In addition, I was in constant contact with the vendors for the products used for various procedures and the hospital sta ng coordinator for larger, more complex cases. Upon seeing the need, I began monitoring and managing our OR block time at 2 of the 3 facilities utilized by our surgeons to ensure we were good stewards of that reserved time and developed a pleasant and e cient rapport with the sta responsible for documenting our use. Our Chief called on me for this information which I kept up to date. I was promoted from this position to the Senior Administrative Assistant position in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Division of SSM SLU.
Surgical and Special Needs Coordinator: Mercy Hospital, 4/2019 – 5/2022
*NOTE: I became a Mercy Hospital employee in April 2019, when the pediatric part of the practice I worked for previously
,Signature Orthopedics was acquired by Mercy in April 2019. I was a surgical and special needs coordinator for a pediatric orthopedic surgeon that treated primarily children with special needs, but also treated general pediatric orthopedic conditions and injuries. I scheduled, authorized, coordinated all necessary equipment and vendors, assisted families in navigating complicated surgery processes and postoperative care. I also coordinated staged procedures, Botox/Dysport/Myobloc/Phenol therapy for children & adults, and helped to develop an orthopedic surgical work-flow in coordination with a pediatric neurosurgeon at St. Louis Children’s Hospital who treated children from all over the world with Cerebral Palsy. I chose to leave my position at Mercy when the physician I worked alongside of let me know that he would be retiring soon. Surgery Scheduler and O ce Manager: Signature Orthopedics, 10/2001 – 4/2019 I held several positions in this practice. Triage nurse adult orthopedics, medical assistant adult & pediatric orthopedics, patient care coordinator adult & pediatric orthopedics, and o ce site manager adult orthopedics. I did phone and o ce triage; hands on clinic assisting including: cast application and removal, injection preparation, x ray assistance, small o ce procedure assistance, vitals, patient history interviews; surgery scheduling, clearances, authorizations, vendor/equipment coordinating; o ce management of a sta of 10+ employees including: hiring, reviews, termination, sta ng, physician liaison responsibilities. I left this position when the pediatric part of the practice was acquired by Mercy in April 2019. The physician I worked closely with asked me to join him in his new practice and I chose to make the change as there was no longer going to be a pediatric division in Signature Orthopedics. Homemaker/Stay At Home Mom: 8/1998 – 10/2001
