Responsibilities
Works independently and has multiple responsibilities with varying degrees of complexity, which require: knowledge of Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Hospitals (TJC) Standards, the medical By-Laws, and VHA credentialing and privileging (C&P) requirements for processing of initial and renewal packets and scopes of practice; application of the compliance knowledge in the risk analysis of documents submitted for the C&P process and information obtained from mandated queries. Works in support of the Medical Staff Coordinator, enabling him/her to administer the medical staff program at the SFVAMC. TJC Standards, VHA Directives and the VHA Patient Safety Program, plus heightened attention by the public sector, requires quality credentialing involving an investigative process that analyzes and verifies multiple data points entered by providers into the VetPro electronic credentialing system. Serves as a Program Specialist in the Medical Staff Office, which is responsible for ensuring compliance with Credentialing and Privileging (C&P) requirements of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the medical By-Laws, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (TJC), and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Incumbent's duties include but are not limited to:
