President / Physician Choice Home Health Care, LLC JUNE 2012 to PRESENT - FAIRLAWN, OH
Physician Choice Home Health Care, LLC is a full service home health company providing skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Physician Choice employs approximately 30 professionals. My role is president with responsibilities primarily directed at marketing and accounting functions on a part-time basis as I have an ownership interest. Day to day operations of the company are run via a full-time administrator. Annual sales are in excess of $1,000,000 and primary funding is via Medicare and private insurances. Owner/Operator / Dave's Cosmic Subs
JULY 2015 to AUGUST 2022
Partner involved with three locations: Fairlawn, Medina and Cleveland Zoo. As co-owner of the three locations, my primary functions were staffing, inventory management, treasury management and community relations. We worked with many local corporations, schools and hospitals providing scheduled catering orders. Combined full staff across the three locations was 22-24 employees. Annual sales were approximately
$1,400,000.
Owner/President / Homewatch CareGivers
OCTOBER 2006 to DECEMBER 2021 - AKRON, OH
Franchisee of a non-medical in-home care agency. Provided aides to assist people in the place they called home. Peak operations saw over 90 caregivers on staff and annual sales of $2,000,000 on 2800 services hours per week. Franchisee of the year in 2011. Grew the operation from zero sales and zero employees. Managed an internal staff of operations manager, field salesperson and two full time client schedulers. At some point during my tenure as owner/operator, I was responsible for marketing/sales, information technology, accounting, training and quality assurance. When in extreme need, I would also provide direct care to our clients. I knew every client and caregiver by name. Served over 15,600 individuals in 15 years. Very proud of the work we did and the peace of mind we provided clients and their families.
Controller / Gottlieb & Sons, Inc.
JUNE 1997 to AUGUST 2006-CLEVELAND, OH
Gottlieb & Sons is a fine jewelry manufacturer and diamond wholesaler. This family owned business brought me in early in my career and trusted me with all back office functions. I managed an accounts receivable clerk, credit manager, staff accountant (for manufacturing facility in New York, NY) and all shipping and receiving clerks (typically four). Was responsible for month end closing, all payables and met with accounting firm quarterly to review the general ledger. This is definitely the place I learned to multitask and prioritize. Annual sales were typically in the $25 million range. Sales were to independent high end jewelry stores in all 50 states, Canada and many Caribbean countries. Learned a lot working here as the patriarch/owner was a Holocaust survivor and did not have time nor tolerance for mediocrity.
Staff Accountant / FOSECO
FEBRUARY 1993 to JUNE 1997 - BROOK PARK, OH
FOSECO, at the time, was a subsidiary of Burma Castrol PLC and produced steel mill and foundry chemical support products. Primary responsibilities included all bank account reconcilements, approval of expense reports for a worldwide sales staff of 60 salespeople and data entry of general ledger into Burma Castrol's centralized accounting system located in England. FOSECO was kind enough to send me to John Carroll University where I earned my MBA.
