Hello,

I am excited to learn about the opportunity as Office Assistant/Administrator.

As an experienced operations and program management professional with a strong background in human resources and team administration. Expertise in process optimization, organizational development, and strategic planning. Exemplary skills in communication, leadership, and problem-solving contribute to team success and efficiency. I am committed to fostering a positive work environment and enhancing operational effectiveness. Based in Langley, Washington, I bring a diverse skill set and a history of successful management roles across various non-profit organizations.

I thrive on organizing and solving the daily challenges that come with making an establishment run successfully. In my previous positions, I have cut operational costs to allow for an increase in profit margin while simultaneously increasing productivity. I am confident that I would contribute greatly to the success of your organization as I love a new challenge and have historically excelled in an entrepreneurial environment. Most of all, I love working with people, and my customer service skills are top-notch, as are my attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities.

My last role as Island County Personal Property Auditor, I collected, analyzed and registered data from business personal property returns, field inspections, financial statements and accounting records to assure compliance with assessment statutes and administrative rules. This position afforded me much needed health benefits for my son who was very active in all sports at South Whidbey High School. He is off to college this fall after just graduating with the 2026 class.

Previously an Operations Manager for an e-commerce business specializing in functional housewares made by artisans. This role involved managing five e-commerce sites via invoicing, vendor relations, purchasing, warehouse management, shipping/receiving as well as all bookkeeping responsibilities for business financial operations (RGA's, AP/AR, vendor contracts, reconciling all accounts (checking, savings, LOC, credit cards) managing cash flow (ACH transactions, international wires, online payments, e-checks, mobile deposits, payroll (including the flagship store in Langley), Monthly (B&O), Quarterly (LNI, ESD, PFMLA) and Annual reporting.

As Executive Director for the South Whidbey Commons Coffee House Bookstore, I ran a social enterprise composed of student volunteer staff. Besides operations, I was able to start up several programs, including supporting scholarships and paid internships for students. Together we set personal goals as they focused on vocational skills, self-empowerment, and teamwork to provide a high-quality customer experience.

As Operations Manager of Greenbank Farm, I operated under tight budgets while satisfying the goals of a multifaceted group of community leaders from board members to port commissioners and major donors. I developed the annual budget, presented it to the board, and was held fully responsible for maintaining revenue goals set while processing payroll, deposits, invoicing, AP/AR, and all reporting for community and board meetings. I was responsible for many community events and worked with volunteers to run retail operations. I changed the operation to include a fully integrated Point of Sale system making inventory management efficient and accurate and simplifying volunteer training.

As Operations/Business Manager at ArtSource and Aquent (Technical/Creative Staffing Firms) I started the Bellevue corporate office while expanding the technical staffing business into five branch locations along the west coast. Company revenue went from 11 million to 17 million in my first year of operations.

After leaving the technical staffing industry and becoming a single mom, I found Whidbey Island to be the perfect place to raise my son, Walden. My first job on the island was with Deborah Koff-Chapin as her Administrative Marketing Associate in which I organized and ran her Touch Drawing retreats at the Whidbey Institute as well as her bookkeeping, scheduling, email correspondence, online sales, and everything in between. From there I went on to work with many artisans to help with their websites and marketing needs locally leading me into the non-profit realm.

I believe my greatest asset is my diverse skill set, creating businesses from the ground up, growing a successful client/candidate base, maintaining tight operations, increasing profit margins, and acquiring strong strategic partnerships and community relations. I have a “can-do” presence and have been successful in different ventures. I would love to share more with your organization and give some insight into my abilities at your earliest convenience.

I appreciate your time in considering me and I look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you,

Cheryl Sagmeister
