EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
I am a technology executive with 30 years of hands-on experience building and running security, risk, and compliance programs in regulated financial services environments. At Abel Noser Solutions, I founded and chaired the Corporate Risk Committee, drove the firm from SOC2 Type I to SOC2 Type II, and personally served as the client-facing point of contact for technology and cybersecurity due diligence for nearly three decades. QTS's risk-based, GRC-centered model maps directly to how I have operated: identifying and tracking risks at the enterprise level, managing auditor relationships, and translating compliance posture into clear executive reporting. I have led and developed cross-functional technology and compliance teams, and I understand what it takes to build a program that holds up under institutional scrutiny. I am based in Olathe, KS, minutes from the Overland Park office, and ready to contribute from day one. YOUR REQUIREMENTS MY QUALIFICATIONS
Lead and grow a Security Risk and Compliance team; 2-5 years people leadership
I have led technology and compliance teams continuously since 1997, including as CTO of Abel Noser Solutions for nearly seven years and as Head of Product Development at Trading Technologies. I hired, mentored, and held accountable the engineers and analysts responsible for our GRC, infrastructure, and audit programs, and I recruited an executive to run our FinTech SaaS business when we separated it from the broker-dealer. Building high-performing teams around compliance and risk is not a side responsibility for me; it has been a core part of every role I have held.
Manage SOC1, SOC2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS,
FISMA/NIST 800-53, and other compliance
frameworks; 6+ years deep working knowledge of at
least three
I have direct, hands-on experience with SOC1 and
SOC2, having taken Abel Noser Solutions from SOC1
Type I through SOC2 Type II certification, and I
supported SOC2 alignment at Trading Technologies
post-acquisition. My 28-year record as the client-facing representative for technology and cybersecurity due diligence means I answered institutional audit
questionnaires and supported external auditors across these standards continuously. While my deepest
credential is in SOC frameworks, I have also worked within FINRA and SEC regulatory requirements that
overlap substantially with NIST 800-53 and NIST CSF control families, and I am prepared to close any
framework-specific gaps quickly given my audit and risk management track record.
YOUR REQUIREMENTS MY QUALIFICATIONS
Enterprise security risk program: identification,
assessment, tracking, and reporting of risks
I founded and chaired Abel Noser Solutions' Corporate Risk Committee, which oversaw cyber, vendor, and
operational risk across the firm. That committee
produced the risk identification, assessment, and
tracking processes the firm used to demonstrate
control effectiveness to institutional clients and auditors. I provided executive-level reporting on risk posture directly to firm leadership and our private equity partners, including during the due diligence process that led to the sale of the company to Trading Technologies.
GRC platform management: implementing and running
GRC technology to support the program
I have managed GRC and compliance tooling as part
of running our SOC2 program and supporting audit
evidence collection. While I have not operated a
dedicated enterprise GRC platform such as Archer or ServiceGRC in a standalone capacity, I have owned
the selection, configuration, and use of the compliance and risk tracking systems that supported our audit programs. My hands-on technical background,
including building SaaS platforms and managing
complex infrastructure, means I can work directly with a GRC platform, not just direct others to use one. Audit coordination: internal and external audit support, auditor management, evidence collection
For 28 years I served as the primary client-facing representative for technology and cybersecurity due diligence at Abel Noser and its predecessor. That
included coordinating external SOC audits, managing auditor relationships, and owning evidence collection across infrastructure, access controls, and change management. I also led the technical due diligence of an acquisition target for our private equity partner, which required me to assess and document control
environments under deal-timeline pressure.
Customer compliance support: escalation point for
client security inquiries, questionnaires, and audits Serving as the institutional client escalation point for security and compliance was a defining part of my role for nearly three decades. I personally responded to security questionnaires, participated in client-driven audits, and explained our control environment to some of the largest asset managers and pension funds in the world. That experience gives me a clear understanding of what clients actually need to see and how to
structure responses that satisfy both the questionnaire and the relationship.
YOUR REQUIREMENTS MY QUALIFICATIONS
Executive-level visibility into program maturity, risks, and control effectiveness
At Abel Noser Solutions I reported directly to firm leadership and our private equity board on technology risk, compliance status, and program maturity. I
structured those communications to highlight control gaps, remediation timelines, and residual risk in terms executives could act on. At Trading Technologies, I continued providing risk and governance updates to senior leadership during the post-acquisition
integration, covering SOC2 posture and infrastructure risk across the combined entity.
Consultative communication: influencing
cross-functional partners and leadership without direct authority
Throughout my career I drove compliance and risk
decisions by advising, not mandating. Introducing a SaaS compliance product at Abel Noser required
building a business case and winning management
buy-in from a skeptical leadership team; that product became the firm's fastest-growing revenue line and a key driver of the company's sale value. At Trading Technologies, I worked across Data and Analytics,
Engineering, and Risk teams with no direct authority over those groups, coordinating infrastructure and governance alignment through influence and clear
communication.
