EXPERIENCE
MARCH 2022 - PRESENT
Samsung, Systems Test Engineer, WI
Executed end-to-end RF integration and systems validation for 200+ concurrent connected device programs across Samsung's full product portfolio — validating 5G NR (SA and NSA), LTE, and multi-radio device performance against US Cellular carrier acceptance specifications from the RF/PHY layer through NAS registration and bearer establishment.
Led RF validation for the US Cellular 5G SA national launch — testing 5G SA device behavior across AMF registration, SMF/UPF PDU session establishment, EN-DC dual connectivity setup and teardown via X2/Xn, PDCP handover continuity, inter-frequency reselection, and LTE fallback — coordinating RAN validation with Ericsson infrastructure teams and delivering with zero critical post-launch defects.
Performed deep protocol stack analysis using QXDM and QCAT — capturing and decoding OTA RRC messages, NAS-EMM/ESM signaling flows, PDCP/RLC/MAC layer behavior, SIP/IMS call flows, and physical layer KPIs (RSRP, RSRQ, SS-SINR, BLER, MCS distribution). Produced structured root cause analysis reports driving Qualcomm firmware resolutions.
Designed and executed integration test plans for NR band combinations — covering RF performance thresholds per 3GPP TS 38.133, RRM measurement accuracy, handover event triggers (A3, A5, B1), carrier aggregation validation, and protocol conformance per TS 38.101-3 and carrier acceptance specifications.
Improved first-pass carrier acceptance from 65% to 83% by building a structured pre-submission RF and protocol validation gate — identifying root causes at the protocol and RF layer and eliminating preventable submission failures across the portfolio.
Directed 20+ RF and validation engineers across concurrent workstreams — assigning test responsibilities, reviewing log analysis quality, maintaining execution standards, and developing junior engineers into capable independent contributors.
