OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST SHADOW

Gained insight into ultrasound and assistive technology. Observed a lymphedema OT use rhythmic massage techniques to promote lymphatic drainage and alleviate fluid retention.

Aided patients, under supervision, by applying lotion, help with bandages, wheelchair transfers, providing water, engaging in conversations, and cleaning the equipment after their therapy sessions.

Assisted 15 patients in a pediatric setting with spatial awareness development. Activities included handwriting, puzzles, shaving cream exercises, tying shoes, and obstacle courses for patients with Autism, developmental delays, and/or ADHD.

Worked alongside an OT to develop fine motor hand skills in patients by giving them objects of varying sizes and shapes within the outpatient care facility. Introduced to hand therapy devices and weighted products.
