I am writing to express my strong interest in the Executive Director role for the Fundraising Academy. With more than 30 years of experience leading advancement strategy, building high-performing teams, and scaling philanthropic revenue within complex academic and healthcare environments, I am excited by the opportunity to help grow and position the Fundraising Academy as a national leader in fundraising education.

Most recently, as Vice President and Chief Development Officer at University of Texas Health San Antonio, I led a comprehensive transformation of the advancement enterprise—expanding annual fundraising from $30 million to $100 million while strengthening infrastructure, team performance, and campaign readiness. This work required not only building a full-cycle development program, but also aligning executive leadership, academic stakeholders, and external partners around shared revenue goals—an approach that directly parallels the collaborative model outlined for this role.

Throughout my career, I have successfully built and executed multi-channel revenue strategies that integrate major gifts, grants, and strategic partnerships. At University of California San Diego and Scripps Health Foundation, I led principal gift strategy and large-scale campaigns, while also developing innovative partnerships and sponsorship opportunities that expanded reach and diversified revenue streams. I am particularly drawn to this role’s focus on fee-for-service models, co-branded initiatives, and national market expansion; areas where my experience in aligning mission with revenue-generating partnerships can drive meaningful growth.

Equally important, I bring a disciplined, data-driven approach to fundraising performance. I have extensive experience implementing metrics, dashboards, and pipeline management strategies to improve forecasting accuracy, increase win rates, and shorten cycle times. I am comfortable leveraging CRM systems and analytics to inform strategy, while ensuring strong donor stewardship and long-term retention.

As a leader, I prioritize building cultures of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning. I have led and developed teams of up to 65+ professionals, fostering environments where individuals are empowered to perform at their highest level while remaining deeply connected to organizational mission and impact. I am particularly energized by the opportunity to lead within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to partner across institutions to create scalable, innovative learning models that advance both revenue and mission.
