QUALIFICATIONS

I am a senior database administrator and developer since 1994. I took a leadership role within SIG’s Production Engineering group, mentoring and steering the activities of two junior team members. I was responsible for delegating tasks and aligning responsibilities. Technical knowledge and experience includes; extensive data modeling, logical and physical database design, server installation, back-up and recovery, maintenance, ad-hoc queries, triggers, stored procedures, SQL Agents, traces, deadlock resolution, performance tuning, linking servers, ETL design, user administration and security. While the majority of my experience has been Microsoft SQL Server TSQL based, from 2010 until 2018, I focused on Linux based MySQL development. Additional career highlights:

Database Developer, Concord Group Insurance December 2018 - May 2021 Worked on implementing the database side of business initiative Rating By Peril. Including data ETL, table modifications, and reporting requirements (processing and development of SSRS reports). Developed necessary TSQL (tables, functions, procedures), ETL, and reports for Premium Projections for Executive review.

Created archive database for susex traffic. Efficiently stored captured traffic from recorders to an archive database of over 25 billion rows (1-2TB of data weekly). Senior Database Administrator, Conning & Company July 2002 - December 2009 Created a compliance engine to verify investment portfolios against our client's trading & compliance guidelines. Engine is completely driven by user selected options, allowing a multitude of possible tests. Engine development was completely with TSQL, front end for user selections was in C#. Supported IT separation from parent company to new owners and including data model changes necessitated by the vendor of the investment accounting system. Design and implementation of log shipping solution for data warehouse. Planning and implementing hardware, OS and version upgrade to SQL2005 64bit. Independent Consultant, Misc Companies Sept 1999 - July 2002 Through misc contracts with clients including Aetna, Connecticare, Medspan, Anthem BCBS, and Ensign Bickford I worked on various aspects administering Sybase environments, performance tuning complex queries (e.g. compose the most recent view at a point in time for an insured), and creating necessary ETL processes for moving legacy data into new a client warehouse. Database Administrator / Developer, Inter*Act Systems March 1996 - September 1999 Created a data warehouse to house the purchases and advertisements across approximately three thousand grocery stores. Development and administration was on Sybase and fed via a custom written C interface to the POS system.
