I am retired from my professional work and I am looking for a job, either part-time or fulltime. I had a professional career as a Software Developer, Data Analyst and IT Technology Director. I am especially skilled at design, writing, quality, problem-solving and root cause analysis. I am a fast leaner, a self starter, and I like ownership and candor. I have a strong technical background including a Computer Science degree, and I have experience in Project Management. I am currently living in the Rockwall County, TX.
Data Analyst and Quality: Total 14 years data analysis including quality, problem-solving and root cause analysis, issue resolution, and including master data (all raw data) and reference data (subsets of master data specific to parts of business). 8+ yrs. of ETL, data management and data governance 9 yrs, 2 years developing Python/Pandas to transform data and export reports. 4 months of ETL development using Bash Linux, BMC Control-M, Gitlab/UCD and Wiki XML. 6 months using and analyzing Teradata SQL to analyze SQL code and run queries. 9 years doing ETL including data movement, data transformation and data processing, and historical data analysis using Excel, Access, Clover/Java, MS SQL, Oracle SQL, MySQL databases and reporting tools, developing quality processes and automation, and doing data quality control and data quality assurance. I wrote SQL code for MS and Teradata servers and helped install stored procedures. Reporting tools Access, Spotfire, Tableau, PowerBI and SharePoint (2 yrs.). Senior Data Analyst
- Worked in the Technology Resources Group in Indirect Tax, working on payroll, location and health care data for federal and state indirect tax credits.
- Technology supervisor for 5 years, and specialized in leading teams and projects doing data historical analysis tasks, and some technology development.
- Project management including Agile and MS Project software. Extensive use of Excel, Access, SQL (SSMS), Visio, Sharepoint and other MS Office and SQL software.
- Did some reporting and dashboards using tools such as Excel, Access, Spotfire, Tableau and SharePoint. I also researched Power BI, Crystal Reports and SSRS.
- Did data modeling with flow charts of data flow when designing changes or new data flows. Did data governance of a data warehouse in a MS SQL server containing various data feeds for about 200 clients, primarily using SQL queries in SSMS. My team was the primary user of the data and I determined if data was ready for the intended use by doing data quality assurance and control. We developed 20 SQL queries to do data governance and I documented instructions to train others to do governance.
- Did data profiling to check data quality of database and data files. At time data was needed, I verified completeness (required data present including non null primary keys and other important data), conformity (data is in correct form specifically proper alignment), accuracy (data matches real world values including sequencing of records and reasonability of data values), timeliness (data is loaded in server and available when needed), and records are not duplicated which could provide incorrect sum and count results.
- Did proactive data quality assurance to discover problems with the data by running our 20 data governance queries. We would need to use this data in the future, and would see that the problems were corrected early. We monitored input of new data into server daily from ETL group, used SSIS to map fields for changes in client data and new clients, verifying correct consistency (data is same across all tables and databases), conformity (data is in correct form), and integrity (validity of data from source data and across links to other tables).
- Helped design standard and ad hoc extracts, reports and automation to extract data from server. I determined the percent of accuracy required for the specific needs and designed how to structure data to meet that accuracy.
- Designed and supervised development of projects in Excel, Access and Sharepoint to connect to SQL servers. We developed tools for internal use to automate manual research, and a Sharepoint Task Manager and Issue Tracker for internal use.
- Used Clover ETL tool to transform some files with details developed in Java.
