I’m a former typographer/commercial artist seeking work outside the world of marketing; much of what I ’ve learned is useful elsewhere. In addition to interpersonal skills, management of staff, workflow and content, I’ve handled budgeting, procurement, estimating and billing. United States Census Bureau – 4/2020 to Present
Group Home Coordinator / Enumerator / Field Representative During the spring phase of 2020 Decennial Census, I communicated with group home (dormitories, care facilities, convents, etc.) staff to compile census data. Transitioned to enumerating the public at large in the greater Boston area. I am currently a field rep for the Rental Housing Finance Survey – researching, locating and interviewing owners and property managers of housing units.

Functioned as a concierge in a luxury apartment building: Dealt with resident concerns and inquiries, greeted prospective tenants and set-up tours, took in and sorted packages and assisted residents in various ways. Arnold Worldwide – 2010-2018
Studio Manager
Managed studio of 12 to 15 people in large, international advertising agency. The studio produced a variety of materials for meetings, pitches and presentations (props, books, room dressings, slide shows) and prepared files for print production, online marketing and websites, and functioned as the agency copy-editing resource. Hired and mentored entry level creative talent. Work with creative directors, project management, account staff and IT to manage resources, budgets, schedules and content management systems. Type Director / Associate Studio Manager
Supervised copy-editing group and various production pods. Functioned as agency’s typographic resource, facilitating the development of type treatments, effective branding, defining typographic styles and font alteration. Did the finish work; reviewed and tweeked all agency files prior to production release. Managed and maintained agency font library. Hill, Holiday – 1991-1997
Type Director
Managed the “type department” (sub-group of the general studio) in a large, hectic (at times brawling) ad agency. Maintained standards for agency typographic composition, helped to define corporate style and assisted creative with type treatments and branding. Managed the production group responsible for agency typesetting. Oversaw transition from “traditional print” mechanicals to “electronic” production files.
