PERSONAL STATEMENT

Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have developed a keen interest in understanding the intricate dynamics of disease transmission, surveillance, and control; hence my application for Program Officer, HIV Prevention.

Currently, I serve as a Community Health Coordinator, where I oversee community-based surveillance activities, coordinate public health interventions, and act as a link between the health facility and the community to ensure timely detection and response to public health events including reducing new infection of HIV. In this role, I supervise Community-Based Volunteers (CBVs), support data-driven decision-making, and strengthen collaboration between clinical, laboratory, environmental health, and health promotion teams to enhance outbreak preparedness and response.

As an Environmental Health Officer, my duties involve monitoring disease trends of public health importance and conducting data collection using line lists, ND1 & ND2, eIDSR, and case-based forms. I have also established an event-based surveillance system for communicable diseases by building capacity among healthcare staff including laboratory personnel, clinicians, environmental health staff, CBVs, and information officers to facilitate rapid response to potential outbreaks.

I have experience in HIV testing, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis counselling, and demand creation. I have actively supported the rollout of HIV prevention services in my catchment area by successfully training 150 polyvalent community-based volunteers on index testing and linkage to care, resulting in an increase in HIV case identification.my strengths are in field implementation, client centred communication, and working with Ministry of Health guideline. I am passionate about joining to scale evidence-based prevention strategies and contribute to Zambia’s 95-95-95 targets at Clinton Health Access Initiative.
