I am applying for the Part Time Faculty Elementary and Special Education position.
I currently work as a Behavior Specialist for Hall County Schools. In this position I am able to help students with their behavior. I am able to help teachers utilize students Behavior Intervention Plan. This is done through teaching social skills and social emotional learning curriculum. I collect ABC data and write Fuctional Behavior Assessments.
My career in education began at the GNETS, Alpine program. I loved the work there and stayed for over 20 years. My time at Alpine was invaluable, as I learned many tricks of the trade when working with students who have been through trauma and who have behavior disorders. I learned best practices and strategies that I utilize on a daily basis. I understand that all children learn differently but more importantly, I understand that ALL children can learn. The most important lesson learned at Alpine, is the importance of building positive relationships with students and I carry this with me today.
The past few years I have taken on a new role as a teacher-leader. I serve as a mentor to all staff to help with difficult behaviors with the goal to change adult behavior to support student success.
I am passionate about teaching and am at a point in my career where I feel like I can make an even greater impact by working with adults. I enjoy challenging mindsets and coaching for growth. I look forward to speaking with you further about this position.
Sincerely, Yonah Wright
