• In the Emergency Department at CHOC, I participate in conducting research related to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Research has shown that traumatic events that happen in childhood between the ages of 0- 17 can result in physical, developmental, and behavioral health problems later in life, including a shortened lifespan. ACEs can also negatively impact school performance, employment, and earning potential thus it is critical to identify children suffering early on to provide them with appropriate support

• As a member of the research crew, I’m primarily responsible for conducting surveys and identifying those children who are experiencing ACEs so that they can be provided appropriate help. Volunteer and Professional Experience
