TO: Dear Hiring Manager,
1. Why do you want to be a Lineman Apprentice Trainee at Chelan County PUD? I am applying for the Lineman Apprentice Trainee position because I want to build a long-term career in the electrical utility field, specifically in a role that is hands-on, physically demanding, and serves the local community. Chelan County PUD has a strong reputation for reliability, safety, and quality service, and I am motivated to be part of a team that plays such an important role in keeping power on for the community. With my background in electrical systems, troubleshooting, and working in fast-paced environments, I am looking to transition into line work where I can continue developing my skills while working outdoors and contributing directly to critical infrastructure. I am especially drawn to this role because it offers the opportunity for continuous learning, advancement, and long-term stability. 2. Describe your specific experience in general construction, military, or equivalent outdoor manual labor, including equipment operation.
I bring over 10 years of hands-on experience working in electrical, mechanical, and construction- related environments that required physical labor, attention to safety, and technical skill. In my role as a Senior Tech III (QEEW) at Amazon, I worked with industrial electrical systems, robotics, and heavy automated equipment, performing troubleshooting, repairs, and system evaluations in a fast-paced, physically active environment. This role required working on my feet for extended periods, lifting equipment, and maintaining strict safety standards around high-voltage systems. Prior to that, I worked as an Electrical Supervisor at Q Corporation, where I led crews in installing electrical systems, running conduit, pulling wire, and building control panels. This work involved outdoor job sites, manual labor, and the use of tools and equipment in varying conditions. I also gained construction experience earlier in my career as a Carpenter/Fabrication Assistant, where I built and installed fencing, operated power tools, and assisted with welding and structural assembly. While I have not yet operated line trucks or bucket trucks, I have extensive experience working around complex electrical systems and equipment, and I am confident in my ability to quickly learn and safely operate new machinery. I am comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, performing physically demanding tasks, and working as part of a team to complete jobs efficiently and safely. Sincerely,
Tony Mendoza
