Computer Technology

PxAtom

'PxAtom' encompasses all of the work that I have been doing since my past position. This work includes 'brushing up' on various technologies and making certain that I preserve my tech capabilities.

Development work in C++ on a 'train simulator'. It's a daemon that can spawn instances of virtual trains based on the NYC Subway system maps. I plan to interface it with a Java Spring instance so that the trains can be both controlled and location tracked using real life geographic coordinates from a web based user interface.

Developed two identical card game programs - one using jQuery and the other React. I did this to gain a deeper understanding of exactly how React works differently than using traditional TypeScript.

Engaging in full stack development using practice applications. Set up MySQL tables, a Java Spring API server and some simple UI programs to interact with data. Exploring other areas like Cybersecurity and Artificial Intellegence in an effort to see if I can pursue other oportunities outside of traditional software development. August, 2022 to January, 2025

Consensus Cloud Solutions

Co-developed a powerful React driven user interface for a system called Clarity. It allowed end users to review and correct data that was captured from hand written forms using OCR and converted to JSON for transmission to Electronic Health Record Systems. Co-developed a workflow between their fax backend and Epic EHR. THis encompassed both inbound and outbound workflows.

Developed other user interfaces that were driven by JQuery to manage EHR's and electronic faxing.

Worked closely with the backend teams on specs for the Java Spring driven API's. Identified issues and often coded up solutions in Java for issues with the backend. Heavy involvement with setting up the AWS environments and utilizing the various tools from Amazon.

Programmer Analyst

American Institute of Physics

Designed and implemented a Java driven workflow to create and deliver data for an electronic books product line.

Developed this new workflow using Talend Open Studio with many parts that required additional Java coding.

Other aspects of this work required the implementation of SQL, Regular Expressions, XML manipulation, XSD validation and JSON.

Fully tested, improved and quality assured the final delivery of this workflow. Co-supported other systems that were critical to the organizations' data operations. Position required heavy amounts of system analysis along with constant interpersonal engagement of project stakeholders.

Software and Systems Developer

BAE Systems

Project was a fast tracked effort to enhance an operational combat system used by the U.S. Air Force.

Conceptualized, wrote and deployed all of the new automation code. Built the Red Hat Linux 7.x environment and worked out all of the advanced issues of stricter SELinux and firewalling.

Implemented PostgreSQL 9.x database replication and wrote the software for managing the failovers.

Created a Red Hat Package Manager (RPM) for better system installation. Audited the systems as per U.S. Government security requirements. Worked with field personnel in order to rectify issues. January, 2017 to March, 2018

Solely responsible for an entire range of custom written applications that routed large amounts of data into and out of JDA WMS and Red Prairie systems for a major warehousing company. Conceptualized, developed and deployed new data workflows using PHP as a raw data processor.

Created a new EDI workflow written in Java. Took steps to move them away from scripted languages.

Greatly reduced the amount of time needed to resolve irregularities in their shipping process. Proactive time spent learning EDI as well as analyzing and understanding existing workflows. May, 2015 to December, 2016

Developed a Ruby based automation program to transfer data from older systems into acentralized content management system.

Was fully trained as an application specialist for "Methode", a powerful CMS for managing and publishingmedia and financial based content.

Performed code fixes in Java for Tomcat apps.

Heavy use of XML protocol, XSD validation and XSLT transformations. Wrote Javascript, JQuery and CSS in support of the front end UI. February, 2006 to June, 2015

The Proximity Artbox Project

Proximity Artbox was a Red Hat Linux 4.x based system that was used to manage and automate television news graphics. It was purchased by Apple Computer and turned into 'Final Cut Server'.

Integration specialist for Proximity. I installed the Artbox systems, configured the station workflow, tested it and then trained the staff.

Maintained support for Artbox as an independent contractor after all former people were retasked by Apple.

My continued work supporting Artbox greatly influenced the decision to rewrite the original news workflow software in order to accomodate the new Final Cut Server.
