JOBS
Babysitter
January 2017 - Present
I am a babysitter for 2 of my sisters and also a frequent caretaker for my younger cousin. I am responsible for feeding the kids I babysit, making sure they’re safe and entertained, and making sure they are home safely. I also report whether anything is wrong or going on to parents and work with them to ensure their kids are happy and well taken care of.
The guild
Summer 2017- Summer 2019
I have been a member of the guild program since I was 13. I contributed by planting in two local gardens and organizing events for the community in one of those local gardens. I also did community outreach in three different locations as a part of the guild program. This was a summer-only program; I was paid twice and worked for about six weeks each time I was a part of the program. The Boys and Girls Club/city mission: social justice internship June 2022- August 2022
I did two jobs this summer. I worked at the Boys and Girls Club, along with an internship with the city mission(it had to do with social justice). I enjoyed both work opportunities and learned a lot from both jobs. At City Mission, I learned how to further my volunteer efforts, and how to express myself so that it is beneficial to others, and I learned to contribute to my community more generally. At the Boys and Girls Club, I worked with kids of all ages; 7-12-year-olds and even some teens. This taught me how to care for little and bigger kids better, patience, and how to have fun and be more open/ less closed off. 1

High school cheer squad/ dance team
August 2019- June 2020, August 2023-May 2024
9th grade- I participated in both my cheer squad and dance team at my high school. I was on both teams and enjoyed the exercise that I got.
12th grade- I tried out and made the team. I put in a lot of time and energy into learning and performing cheers at games for both football and basketball seasons. I enjoyed the community that was fostered on the team, and I enjoyed the exercise and endorphins gained as well. Debate team
September 2021- March 2022
I participated in the debate team during my second go at tenth grade and learned leadership skills and how to present and win an argument through fact-finding. Doing research was the basis of creating a good argument, and learning how to see both sides of an argument was also a very useful skill that the debate team taught me. Puzzle Club
September 2022- April 2023
I created an escape room with my group, and it was a fun experience to use my fact-finding skills learned the year prior and deductive reasoning to make a fun experience possible for others. I also took a trip to an escape room with my team members, and we solved the escape room in record time.
Spoken word club- poetry society
August 2023- April 2024
I led a group of juniors through my thoughts and feelings on poetry and helped them come out of their shells, performance-wise. As a club, we enjoyed other spoken word artists, wrote many spoken word poems to put our thoughts on paper, and grew as people. I really enjoyed sharing my art and helping others do the same.
