The longevity of Li-ion batteries is a critical factor in developing electric vehicles. However, increasing their lifespan remains a substantial challenge. Considering temperature control is essential in keeping the battery within its optimal operating range, and temperature is a critical factor that significantly affects battery longevity, this thesis addresses the challenge of heat dissipation in lithium-ion batteries by examining the effectiveness of fluorinated liquid immersion cooling as a new cooling method for 18650 lithium-ion batteries. The study compares SF33 immersion cooling to forced air cooling at a velocity of 2m/s, focusing on discharge rates of 3C and 5C at an ambient temperature of 30 C. The results indicate that immersion cooling consistently outperforms forced air cooling under these conditions.
