My Job as a Correctional Officer is to protect the public from the incarcerated. Meaning our number one priority is to make sure inmates/offenders DO NOT escape. And we conduct searches on the inmate’s property and also a pat search to make sure offenders do not have contraband. We also do outside checks to make sure no unauthorized personnel is on the property as well as no unauthorized vehicle is on the property trying to start trouble or help an inmate escape. We also take offenders to the Hospital in case of serious emergency and we stay there to make sure they are properly secured and to make sure the offender doesn’t try to escape or harm anyone and we also take offenders to the appointed bus stop if they are being released or out on parole this is majority of all the things we do as a Correctional Officer.
